I've got the same boat. It rides and handles like crap with the bow shoved in the water ( trim 100% down) leans and everything. If I just tap the trim up a little then it rides and drives great. Trim it much more and you get it to porpoising.:irked:

stern jack is for outboards and lifts/lowers the motor depending on how you want to run that day. such as low for skiing and high for using a chopper blade for top end.

the nose cone is only used around 80mph and above. it is pointed at the front instead of rounded. if adjusting the trim doesnt do it then tabs may help.

do you use your trim tabs or just trim onthe motor? Does it have anything to do with weight in the boat. I was told a 4 blade prop might help.

close, you're thinking jack plate which is for outboards. a stern jack is from land and sea, i've seen them, i don't like them - they put way to much stress on the transom components and wouldn't recommend it.

don't even consider a nose cone - it won't help and will only hurt your speed.

play with the trim and with the tabs, you'll find the sweet spot quickly.

Thanks chris.i do however have a pointed lower unit that came with the boat. Should i swithch and get a rounded one? Will it help my leaning from side to side when i am trying to go straight?

is it chine walking? or is it just falling off the v? if it's walking, you'd want to check the gimble ring for tightness - if it's falling over, then you may want to adjust some weight to see if that helps, or drop the tab on the opposite side to bring it back - although, you really shouldn't need to.

ahhh, didnt know they made them for stern drives - how would that even work? look out google, here i come again!!!

i see now---

basicly it extends the outdrive further back for more leverage and when you trim it you multiply the effect and actually raise the prop further. i can see the added stress, i wonder how may ft/# of leverage is added to the transom?

My boat does the same thing i checked the gimbal ring it is good what else could cause play in the steering i will be going along and it will just fall one side to the other

Chris my gimble bearing does need to be replaced because it is growling.I'M not sure what chine walking is. it does feel more like weight dislpacement even though i try to even it out as much as possible. Do you use your trim tabs evenly or one more than the other to control what side it leans to?

i sent an email to land and sea to get a price and ask about the stress on the transom, the email i got back from them stated they no longer sell the stern jack or any other performance parts and could not help me!!!

they no longer make them..not sure why I installed on on 21 checkmate with a 454 and a alpha..yea I know..worked real good as I remember...5-7 mph +
