CHECKMATE WEEKEND 2014

Nice. If some shirts and some good ole fun is in planning I would like to join in the fun. It may be just a day thing for me but any time is a good time on the water!

It's about time, Chuck! Was that your last day out for the season when we saw you guys in Philly?

That was a very nice weekeend, First time to that part of the country. The Location was great, the people were great too! Sorry I missed most the late night activities, but this ole' man gets his drink on in the afternoon.

The shirt is so nice that I haven't worn mine but once or twice, look'n for the right pair of shorts I guess. I even enjoyed the ride home by taking America's Highway across the top of Maryland, One of the most scenic drives I ever took.

Heres a few pics I haven't shared of the Friday I hung out in Chestertown waiting. Chestertown is a nice old colonial town / tourist trap. I did have a real good $9.00 bowl of clam chowder then spent most of afternoon looking for a real bar, I did have one in the back of my truck but it was becoming a little wet to enjoy. I evenually found one back by the warter, even better so did a group of teachers out having a drink after the last day of school. It soon was 5 o'clock and I was bummed I had to leave :(

The new 2014 vacations was posted yesterday at work and I have june 4-14th off. :D Merc245

The shirts are a given... New shirts/design to follow as we lock in dates and location

Merc- Those pics remind me a fun drive down from NJ. I thought about dropping the boat in the middle of the flood in Chestertown :o At least the rain held out for our weekend :bigthumb:

Remember to keep speed limit and wake zones in mind if we do a new spot. Cambridge looked like it might fill that bill.

Sim, I had to take the afternoon off yesterday because it was probably the last day for boating. Me and my Uncle flew down the Delaware. There was a great sounding boat like yours that looked like a Checkmate near Pennslanding and had a little race. He had a few mph's on me but was hanging tuff.

We docked at D&B and walked to the bar for a few coldies before speeding back before it got dark at 5pm. I was excited to test the new 23P prop and managed to hit 70MPH on the GPS!!!!

Got back to the dock at Neshaminy state park with a few gnats stuck to my face:) and almost got locked in because they close the gates at 5pm.

Time to winterize:(

Wow! Good for you that you made it out for another day. We're still hoping for the right day to take the outboard out one last time even though we've already winterized. Might I add that when I say "we" I mean "me". Duh

I'm lovin merc's pictures of how rainy it was that weekend cause I'd almost forgotten.
As I recall the rain held off and didn't get much in the way during the boating day and firepit evenings.
However...the drive down to MD on Friday and coming back on sunday were torrential.
So much so that based on the weather prediction (even though I didn't tow and was riding random-shotgun on other people's boats the whole time) I chose to not come down in a rear wheel drive convertible or bike for 3 hours travel. In both directions it was howling bucket-rain and I had no doubt that I preferred to be in the Grand Cherokee. (car stank of mildew for at least a week.)
Especially muddy in the yard. Even then my 4wd was slipping around and it took a few guys(thanks merc and spence!) at the end of the weekend to stomp out the trenches.
I'd completely forgotten how freaking miserable the weather was.
Except for when it actually mattered. During the day. Boating. And there we got real fortunate.

Hey merc- sounds like good reason to try to schedule between the 4th and 14th. How do you guys schedule so far and solid? Hope to see you you in june.

I will def not forget the rain last year! But like Sim said the boating and bonfire were perfect!! I am excited for next year!

what about ocean city md. I know its a little farther east for the people coming from the west but have some nice backbays and rivers to run around in.

Just a short run down to Chincoteague Island. Just south of the OC inlet is a great spot for beaching the boats and hanging out.

I just came late to the thread - been busy moving house for the last few weeks, so radio silence.

Was thinking about this at the weekend and already looking forward to what may happen.
We'd be definitely in for the weekend (and may try to make it for a few days longer at whatever location/area is settled on).
Have made the last 2 (one without family, one with family) and enjoyed each one immensely.

Just have to build a new wardrobe for the Checkmate Chesapeake t-shirt collection! :p

Knarloid are you bringing the whole family next year. Think kids might go to grandmas house for the weekend next year depending where we have it. what's everybody else doing with kids
