    2800SX Outboard Restoration Begins!!!

I think you'll love the Bravo Ones. Sure some people will say that its a MerCruiser prop, but there's a reason they are so popular on Verado powered boats (and even seen them run on Seven Marine 557's). They carry large boats well.

Info/Suggestions for Dual cable steering on Enticer

www.greatlakesskipper.com I got mine at Kendor Marine, which is the retail store for Great Lakes Skipper. The steering feel improved so much when I replaced the original Ride Guide system with the Teleflex NFB system, it was like comparing a dumptruck to a go-kart. No stiffness or extra...

Info/Suggestions for Dual cable steering on Enticer

I replaced the steering system on my Starflite when one of the steering cables got sticky and I couldn't find a replacement (mercury ride-guide steering is no longer available). I installed a Teleflex NFB (no feedback) dual cable rack system and couldn't be happier. Other than drilling new...

    Steering Wheel

If you're interested, I have a wheel that looks very similar to an original checkmate wheel. I'll send pics if interested.

Will my Checkmate XX fit in my garage or barn?

1988 Starflite on a 1988 C-Hawk single axle trailer with 1988 Mercury 200 (bolted to transom, no setback) takes all of 25'-2" from end to end. My garage is 26' deep (exterior) so it JUST fits with maybe an inch or two on each end. When we were considering buying the house, the realtor asked why...

Fuel tank - Vent or not to Vent?

One more item to consider: The fuel gauge in my Starflite will show different fuel levels depending if the boat is sitting on the trailer in the garage (on a level concrete floor) versus when it is floating in the water. At rest, in the water, the transom is lower than the bow. For example, if I...

    1987 Mercury v225 2.5l ??

To my knowledge, there is no such thing an a 1987 225 HP 2.5L. There was a 220 HP (Laser) but that was EFI, not carb. I don't think any 2.5L engines were in existence in 1987 to be honest. Is he sure that its not a 3.4 L? That would be pretty hard to mix up though. 3.4L's are huge monsters...

    New to Me Starflite

That is a great looking Starflite. It certainly appears to have been taken care of over the years; that interior looks mint! A little elbow grease on the exterior and she'll look like new. Great purchase. As much as I like the black/white/red color scheme on my Starflite, the color scheme...

    Tightening Starflite seat bases

Thank you for the suggestions! I'll try loctite first and see if they hold up. I've been worried about completely removing the bolts in case the nuts fall off the back side. I believe only one of the bolts feels "stripped out" so maybe I'll get lucky on this one.

    Tightening Starflite seat bases

The front seat bases in my 88 Starflite don't seem to want to stay tight. I can tighten up the seat base bolts and they seem to stay tight, until we take the boat out that is. Over the course of the day, they loosen up. Any suggestions to tighten these up? The floor and seat base boxes are...

    starflite with twin outboards

Normally I'm always very interested in unique setups and power combinations that haven't been tried before, but I must say I'm very apprehensive about the notion of hanging twins off the back of a Starflite. The transom/splashwell will require extensive mods to even get to the minimum spacing...

    Even More CL Finds!

I was thinking the same thing. How someone could let that beautiful boat sit and rot is completely beyond my understanding. I mean really, you couldn't have thrown a $10 tarp over it? All because it probably scuffed a piston or two. And then to sell the trailer out from under the poor thing...

Does anybody know the purpose of this switch

You can walk in to any Merc dealer for a replacement. Cabella's, Bass Pro Shop, and even some tackle shops might have them. I always wear mine. I actually clip the lanyard to a rock climbing caribener clip (pretty sure I spelled that wrong) that I attach to my belt or a belt loop. The only...

    2015 2400CD Fresh from Miami !!!

At $80k and 1100 lbs you'd have to be dense to hang a single 7 on the transom instead of a pair of 400R's. With a pair of 400R's you get almost 180 more HP, similar weight, and save about $10-15k. Not to mention the advantage of having twins for reliability. I realize that most 7's are not...

    Silverado Owners Question?

Any chance of swapping out seats from a similar year Suburban or Yukon? I bet those are more comfy than the pickup truck seats.
