    253 Convincor makeover

Thanks. One picture shows a waterway. Is the map just showing the road next to the water, or do the maps actually allow you to track your progress through the waterway like a chart plotter?

What model Garmin nuvi is that? Thanks.

    Restoration price?

I haven't been around for a while, but in case you haven't done this yet, and since you're talking about cost, I think I can chime in here. If you're like most, it will cost you far more than you think. I paid $3,000 for my boat and put approximately another $7,000 into it sans motor ... and...

Resto aftermath: Some small things that haven't held up

Thanks for the ideas on the glue. Boat's in the mechanic's hands right now. Unwrapped it from winter storage (damn raccoon ate a hole in my cover and tracked up the inside) and can't get the motor to turn over. No juice for some reason, and I just don't have the time to track it down. Thought it...

Resto aftermath: Some small things that haven't held up

Haven't been here much since I finished my resto. I thought I'd report back on a few small things that didn't hold up the way I'd hoped. Maybe it'll help someone. I filled in my screw holes with Marine Tex. Several holes "caved in" within months, and recently one of the Marine Tex fillings...

    What paint to use

:shakehead: Brushing mine took a tremendous amount of work to get right.

    Warning: Yamaha 225 corrosion problem

I don't see too many Yamahas here, but after just reading this in my BoatU.S. magazine, I thought I'd pass this along just in case someone is considering a boat with this motor. It seems like this is a well-known problem on bass boat forums. With Yamaha's response to this problem I don't think...

    2800SX Outboard Restoration Begins!!!

Now this is a useful post. Glad to see someone pointing out the things that can be encountered when doing these kind of jobs. Gives the complete story of working on a boat, not just the sugar-coated parts.

    24' checkmate

Beautiful! Wish I could paint mine like that. Re-enforcers my plan to go with silver accent.

    count down is on

Yep. Sounds like it needed the works. Sounds like you made the right call. I inquired about the "Bud" boat years ago when they were asking too much. I even thought about bidding on another 28 on eBay that I believe went for $5100. It was a former race boat. A white one with no windshield. If I...

    count down is on

Heck, sounds like some of the demolition is already done then :D. At least you can see what you're getting into. The key to this boat relies on what kind of shape the hull and motors are in. Motors being serviceable versus needing rebuild is probably a $6K difference. Needing replacement ...

    87 enforcer o/b overhaul

So you're talking about a "fairing"? When I was researching what I wanted to do I read an old thread on another site about fairings that points to other threads that show the build. I just looked it up again and here it is.

    87 enforcer o/b overhaul

Having ditched the windshield [pic], you know I like the look. I went in this direction after seeing the Boat of the Year 2007 on this site. However, keep in mind that if your cockpit cover snaps to the windshield you will have to modify or get another one. I kept the windshield bolt holes and...

    1988 Vision redo

Let me know. I have an unused pair of Windaways w/protective bag (I've never even opened the box) that I'd let go for about half what I paid.

    " For Sale" Enforcer outboard

You're killing me. It took me months to get to this point in my restoration. Even simple stuff can make a big difference. For instance, it looks like the rub rail end caps are in good condition. Mine were completely corroded. I did find new ones of the same style, but they were twice as thick...
