    " For Sale" Eluder parts

Mine was rotted, too! I cut a piece of plywood, coated it in resin, and then covered that in some vinyl material I had used in other parts of the boat. It went with the boat to the marina in the sky.

    Where are you from?

    I'm in NC!

Yep, still have it. Shipping might be a bit cost prohibitive, I'm in eastern NC.

    Looking for propping advice

Just some wild speculation here, but sounds to me like the current prop is for max top speed, and going down an inch or two on a the pitch might get it on plane faster at the cost of higher rpm and/or lower top speed. Any trim tabs on your boat to push the stern up? I switched from a 21 Mirage...

    dual cable system help needed

Having done this to a couple of Checkmates, I'm going to recommend you just convert to a hydraulic system. The cost isn't much more (at least the last time I checked) and it's a simpler system. But, to give you the list, you'll need a new helm (either a dual cable helm or a rack helm), a new...

    ‘82 Diplomat foam question

So my Predictor sits really low in the water with a Merc V6 on it, but my Eluder didn't. I'll also point out that the Dip is the same length as the Predictor, just a bit wider, while the Eluder/Exciter is longer and wider than the Predictor. As you can see, the Predictor has the rub rail...

    Mercury 450 HP

No, its a 60k outboard, you still have to buy the boat. Also, maybe you aren't familiar with sarcasm?

    1984 Checkmate

My state is surprisingly lax about boat titles, compared to auto and trailer titles. Probably because a different agency is in charge of it (Wildlife instead of DMV.)

    1984 Checkmate

In my state you declare the length on the registration, along with type of power, HP and fuel type. I just went with what the previous owner declared, since it doesn't really matter until you get to the 24'/25' length where the registration cost triples for boats over 24'. I made sure to...

    1984 Checkmate

This is for outboards, source the 86 catalog on this website. Predictor is 16'6", Diplomat/Sportfire is 16'7" (they have 5" more beam than the Predictor), Eluder is 18'3" (they don't list the Exciter OB this year, but it's the same length as the Eluder.) My Predicator is listed as 17' on the...

    1984 Checkmate

To help a little more with ID - I just went outside and measured my 86 Predictor from the tip of the windshield where it touches the hull to the front of the bow along the centerline and it's 86.5"

    1984 Checkmate

If it's closed bow then it's probably an Exciter. Open bow version would be an Eluder.
