    FS: N.O.S. Mercury I-6 115HP complete powerhead

I have carefully gone over all of the mumbers on the powerhead assembly components, found that the block is stamped part # 7401, which from the Crowley Marine website, is for any 1973-1979 115HP engine.

There is a lot of valuable information on Classic Mercs here. Some of the contributors really know these old engines. http://www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/home/mercury-outpost

Murcury Inline 6 Factory Idle RPM

The factory spec on the ADI (Alternator Driven Ignition) engines (1980-1988) is 600-700 RPM IN GEAR. Hestiation on acceleration usually means the idle is adjusted too lean, if the engine is in otherwise good condition. A weak idle and failure to hold the 600-700 idle, with constant die out...

    Just bought Merc 1000 68?69

For Mercury decals, these are the best, used by the Pros and accurately reproduced. By looking at the 68 & 69 years, you should be able to tell which year your engine is. The 69's all have "MERC 1000" on the sides of the top cover. The 68's don't and had the "SS" (solid state ignition)...

    FS: N.O.S. Mercury I-6 115HP complete powerhead

I bought it from my Mercury dealer 8 years ago. These powerhead assemblies are no longer in production by Mercury, not even on a re-manufactured basis. When they were last producing these new ones, many years ago, I am told the factory price was $4100.

    FS: N.O.S. Mercury I-6 115HP complete powerhead

This may be the only one in existance in the world! I have an in-line 6 BRAND NEW FACTORY replacement 99.9 cubic inch powerhead for a 90-115HP classic Merc. It is NOT remanufactured, rebuilt or anything like that. It is a brand new, never used, never installed, block and powerhead assembly...

Links to vintage fiberglass boat websites

Here are two sites for vintage fiberglass Boston Whalers. Boston Whalers were first introduced as 1958 models, in a 13' skiff which was famously sawed in half at the Chicago IMTEC show in 1957. http://continuouswave.com/ http://whalercentral.com/Boston_Whaler.php

    Calling all Inline Six Gurus

Finally, I have an update. I have been using the boat for the last month in FL, and can report the problem is fixed, the galvanic corrosion problem gone. I located the correct army green colored flywheel for the engine on Ebay and found one like new, and had the Mercury shop down in FL install...

Removal of economizer circuit on 1984 inline merc

    Vintage Boston Whaler fiberglass boats

Thanks to all I appreciate the comments. Regarding the comment about the 21 having an "interesting hull", this model, only made for 2 years and 720 hulls in total, was the original Boston Whaler Outrage. As a matter of fact, when the first prototype was shown to Whaler's canvas designer, he...

    Calling all Inline Six Gurus

Once again thanks to everyone contributing here. This coming Tuesday, the engines will finally be back for the service needed to solve the problem. Regarding flywheels, I have checked the Mercury part numbers on BOATS.NET and discovered that the Distributorless models of the 115, 1980-1983...

    Vintage Boston Whaler fiberglass boats

Even though this a Checkmate website, the title of this section says "Non-Checkmate Vintage boats", so since you asked, here goes! These are two vintage Whalers I have picked up over the 9 years, what many would call "barn finds". Just dumb luck on my part, and being at the right place at the...

    Calling all Inline Six Gurus

Jeff - Thanks for your reply and compliment. Greatly appreciated. Yes, each engine has it's own battery, and there is no dual battery selector switch. There is, howewver, the common negative ground cable between the 2 batteries. I am still stuck up here in Illinois, but as soon as I can...
