Check out the varnish in my fuel line!

I've also had that issue on 2005 boat. it's not varnish it's the ethanol fuel affecting the inner liner of the fuel line. Mercury now has a new line that is ethanol resistant. Replace the line all the way from the tank to the motor with the new line.

    smartcraft gauge

Hi Derek, hope everything else has been going well with the boat. I've been lurking waiting to see speed postings or if you or your buddy have ever gotten it through the chine walk. That fuel tank never did seem to take the right amount shown on the smartcraft gauge, and it always gurgled over...

    Keel protection?

I'm with John Lamon on this subject, boating is all about stopping on a beach and doing your thing, If your to anal to get a couple scratches on the bottom of your boat then you might as well wrap it in plastic and put in the corner of your garage. If your able to anchor offshore great, but I...

    Winterizing-2

A lot of people have many different variations of winterizing there outboard, but there is basically 4 things that need to be done. Fill the fuel tank and add the appropriate amount of sta-bil and merc qwikleen, recomended for opti-max motors, then run the motor for 5-10 minutes to get stabil...
