1975 Vmate restoration

After Dad left I washed all the dust off the top . Just need to wipe down with acetone . But other than that the top is ready for primer now ... Which he said maybe this week he sill stop by before I leave for work and take the top off and push the boat out in the drive and he will primer it while I am at work ... Hey that works for me ....

Mostly this year every thing that was done Brian was by me . And I really dont have the time to do what I have done . I work so late I only get 3 -4 hrs of sleep than Im back up working on the boat on my days off . Im trying my best to get this thing finished and in the water this summer . Im just hopping he gets the top sprayed with primer here really soon so I can get the bottom flipped over and start getting the Paint off the bottom ... I still have to make the gunnel panels than I can drop the seats and stuff off and have them done up . Still need to send the motor in but that wont be till the boat is almost finished . I dont want a rebuilt motor in the garage on the stand with a 90 day warranty going to waste . plus my dad still has to paint all the motor parts still too lol .... Im gunna have the trailer blasted also and he dont know it yet but he's painting the trailer too :rof:

Well tuesday will be the day the top half gets Primered .... Today and tomorrow will just be to busy and Im off tuesday so Ill be up and out super early that morning and get everything wiped down so when dad gets here he can start spraying :D ....

Well as I write this my dad is mixing up the primer . Im not sure what all he is gunna do yet but Im sure ill find out here very shortly ....

I was out of work very early tonight . Only worked 2 hrs we were very slow . I came home and the boat was out in the drive way . Dad was here wet sanding those spots . So I mixed up some watertite and fix some more pin holes I could see . Ill sand those out in the morning before I go to work... Maybe ill come home tomorrow and the rest of the top will be primered .....

We managed to get the top of the boat primered today . I went out and Picked up a few 2x4x8 today also . I guess when my dad and brother are done bowling tonight they are going to stop back by and help me flip it over and get it back in the garage on jack stands . That way I can get to removing all the paint off the bottom .

Well they showed back up after bowling and we pushed the boat back out in the drive way and in to the grass . Took the top off and set it on the grass . Picked the boat up and set it in the grass also . Than we put the top on the trailer and pushed it out of the way . We rolled the boat over and than walked it into the garage and set it on jack stands and a few 2x4s ... Now I can get to removing the paint from the bottom ......

Got out of work at midnight tonight and came home and started scraping off the old paint on the bottom . Its now 1:30 am and I chose to stop cuz I had the garage door closed and the fumes were awful . I didnt want to have the door open because I was being very loud . But I did get alot done in the hr I was out there . Ill get up alittle earlier and do some more before work . I hope to have it all off by sunday ....

Just came back in from you guessed it . Scrapping more old paint . The scrapping isnt the bad parts its all the sanding afterward im not looking forward too . It was 90 here today and suposed to be 93 tomorrow not looking forward to that but Ill be out in the garage with the fan on removing the rest of the paint ......

I got just about all the paint off . Just need to get it off the sides of the strakes now . The scraper I was useing was to big and I didnt want to gouge them up . I did start sanding yesterday too . So alot did get done in the 90 deg heat . Im off again tomorrow and its posed to be some what cooler so Im gunna be out all day again sanding this thing so I can get in paint hopefully in a week or so . As far as I know my dad is posed to come back by tomorrow and help me wet sand the top too and than give it another quick shot of primer . I still need to get my carpet ordered . I did find the carpet I want . I have to run out to Macomb to the Foam factory and pick up all new foam for the interior than that will go into the upholstery shop . Soon as its time to start putting it all back together the power head will be sent out to be rebuilt and all the parts/cowling will be painted while power head is in the shop .
