1975 Vmate restoration

Well I think we might be finally going over to the shop to get the boat for the first time this year on tuesday . But that all depends on my dad . He had his 6th hernia surgury this past thursday . Hes not supposed to be in a car even as a passenger for a week but he was up and walking around saturday . I guess we will see how it goes . I rather him just take it easy but he said he is fine . I told him he is getting close to 60 he needs to slow it down a bit he is not going to heal as fast as the last time .....

Those are some pretty cool pics. I'm seriously considering sending my entire spare motor down and having him rework everything...block, carbs, lower, trim and anything else wrong with it.

wayne has been really easy to work with . He shld have the power head back on its wy here by tomorrow he said . I liked that every step of the way he kept me informed on everything he was doing and sent lots of pictures. I
Give him a call and see what all he says . Its definetly worth the call thats for sure .....

just got a email from Wayne and he said it is all finished and he will be sending a few more pictures here in a few mins . Soon as I get them ill post them up for every one to see ...

This morning I sprayed primer on the lower half of the motor . Just have a few more things to do then the motor can be painted and start to be put back together . The power head should be here sometime on Monday .... Cant wait to get it all bolted back up and hear it run ... Here are a few pics

Hey Will
I hope you can enlighten me here.My old Carlson came with dual cable steering(not opposed)but was not attached to my 1500 Tower.I figured I had some time to kill and not having seen the proper hook-up for the inline I decided to build my own bracket.I had a spare tilt tube so I figured I'd make a bracket like you have that mounts to the outside of the clamp. Was all looking good, but then I thought there is no way this will tilt without breaking something. So my question is just looking at your set-up it doesn't look like it will tilt either,so how does it work or have you tried it?I had to finally attach mine to the mid so the cables would both tilt with the motor.Anybody have picts of a dual cable set-up(both cables on the same side) on an inline?I love to see'em.

Thanks Chris

That ride guide kit is for the old inlines and your right it wont tilt all the way up to the locks. But the cables move freely on mine ...

Any chance of a pict with it tilted up as high as it goes?
The set-up that I had made like that was a lot simpler design than what I'm into now.I've got the fabbing done and just painted the pieces tonight.Gonna try and get it bolted on and adjusted up late tomorrow.
Here's a pict of the CVX.Hoping to use this motor on the MX 15 eventually.

Chris with the duel steering set up on the older in line Mercury Outboards the motor will not go all the way up to the tilt locks. this was Not a Problem for us because the Locks was Never Meant to be used to travel down the road with the motor up on the tilt locks. we did put a piece of wood between the saddle bracket and the power trim rams. Always Sammie Action Marine

No worries man. It's not that big a deal.

Thanks for the info Viper1.Don't suppose you could still buy those anywhere?
Like I said that would be a whole lot easier setup to build for me.I was afraid of snapping the piece that runs under the powerhead as it didn't look like there would be enough movement to be able to tilt it at all.
