" For Sale" 1989 Checkmate Enchanter $8500

MAGNUM441961

New member
I bought this 1989 Checkmate Enchanter in 95 from the original owner, kept it for 8yrs. In 2002 A friend made me an offer and I took it. In 2007 we had lunch and I bought her back I liked her so much. She is still in Great shape and runs like new. Still all original, been kept under cover and inside shed. I'm getting older and want a fishing boat now. Send PM if interested and I'll call or email with pics.
Can't seem to post pics tonite but can send in regular email when requested.

Thanks
Michael

Yours looks great too. What kind of speed do you get and what prop?
I use the Mirage 23p to ski for good hole shot n tops out at 64, use a 25p for speed that will bump over 70-72

I'm running a 21p Laser II on mine and i'm pretty happy with it. I haven't really done a real gps run with it to see what it'll do but did crack it WOT for a few seconds and got 60 on a phone app gps. I used to run a 23p on it and got 63 on a garmin gps. That's about the best i've seen. There is no way my Enchanter would ever spin a 25p, have done anything to your engine? Everything on mine is completetly origional/stock except for GLM aluminum exhuast manifolds. Did your boat come factory with that Alpha SS drive? I'd love to find one for mine!

The outdrive is original to me, I think Jon had that added when he bought it new. That may be why this completly stock (but very strong) 350 is faster than any other 350 around in any boat. I did change the carb once but didnt run as good as original carb. OH, I did drill the jets in the carb just a couple ths which may have helped 2 or 3 mph at top end.
Note: if you get a SS lower dont run it at top speed in smooth water very long, it has 2 small pick up holes and with out some chop they seem to create an air pocket and increases the eng temp. I'm a stickler about watching my guages. All other speeds are fine, with a little chop on the water it seems to keep the water moving around and keeps the air pocket from forming.

Yeah you are definatly getting some good speed out of that 350, i'm sure the drive helps with the nose cone. I eventually plan on putting a crate engine in mine, a buddy of mine just put a 325hp Mercury Quicksilver 350 crate motor in his Pacifica and it runs really good, that would the perfect engine for the Enchanter hull i think, would probably get me close to if not to 70 mph. Good info about the SS drive, i didn't know that, i'm hoping one falls into my lap someday, they are pretty hard to find.

My Motor would get a Enchanter to 70 no problem

I had to look twice to make sure you didn't take mine out of the garage!

Checkmate stopped making these in '88 but had a few spill over into 1989. According to Mike @ Checkmate there were only 5 Enchanters made (custom orders) in '89... 3 outboards & 2 I/O's. Mine's also an '89, making ours the ONLY 2 I/O's in existence... you should be asking twice that price!!! :rof:

But seriously, good luck with the sale!
