+3 mph

That is correct! The 4 1/4" trophy plus works great on the 4 3/4" gear case! boatman

boatman, I was looking at a Mercury prop listing it appears that all the Trophy's listed are 13 3/4" diameter with pitch being the only variable. Am I to assume that all Trophys are small hub?

Just an FYI

I to have been playing the prop match game.

I currently am running a 25P laser 2 on a 186 pulse w/ 200 Merc
Has a 10.0" set back 3.5" below the pad.
Spins 6000 @ 70 MPH GPS

Friend has a 26P Merc Chopper I tried over the weekend.
Gave the boat great bow lift in rougher water, but the top speed
fell WAY off still spinning 6000

fiftyp, it seems I'm having trouble comparing my setup to others as I am turning a 2:1 gear box with a 2.0 (peanut motor) 150. I running 10" back and about 4 below which is similar to you, but I have to be down in the 21" range to get close to 6000 rpm. I wish I could spin a 25P @ 6K. Your setup sure sounds fun, though.

DID YUO BUY YOUR BOAT OFF EBAY AT THE FIRST OF THE SUMMER
IF IT IS WHY DID HAVE TO SEND THE POWERHEAD TO THE SHOP
I THINK THE BOAT WAS IN GLENMORA LA IF IT IS THE ONE I AM THINKING ABOUT

Yes I did and all was fine until I ran it hard and it smoked 1 & 2. Seems the Merc oil injection syndrom got me...not the previous owner. It would smoke at idle indicating it was in fact oiling. It even used some oil as evidenced by the level in the resovoir having dropped. T-Rex said the teeth on the crank that drove the oil pump rod were worn, damaged, etc to the point that it would oil at lower rpms, but not enough above 3500 rpm or so. I blame myself as I had every intention of removing the oil injection, but just HAD to run the boat a few times before I got started on upgrading it. Had I removed it I would have never had a probem. The motor had between 125 and 130 on all cylinders when I bought it and was actually a very low hour motor. Now I have a new power head and am very happy with the boat. I just need to find the right prop.

Where is Flowood??

Lol! Dave, I pegged you as a driver before I read your signature. (exit 47 -Flying J).. Hauled haz-mat 48 states when I was a younger man. Been in the truck..and now car/truck biz forever.

Once you are in the car biz, you are no longer suitable for employment anywhere else---
or so I am told
Trucking is almost as bad
If I could find anything to pay 2/3 what I make hauling cars, I would give it up today, this is a younger mans game for sure

thats awesome you got one ive found 2 more on ebay n one @ snf no sale yet. im curious n xcited to see how it works out for you ! i m gonna try to demo some 4 now im guessin 21p ,but mercs propselector says 23p !

Prop-select says 23p across the board for me, too, but I tried a 23 Stiletto that was "etched" w/22P on it and only spun it 5300. Keep in mind though, I have a 2 liter 150 w/a 2:1 box. I'm going to assume that your 175 is a 2-fo or 2.5 with more torque and if so, your ratio is a 1.76 or 1.86:1. I would "guess" that you could turn more prop compared to my 2-little assuming that my 18' Eciter and your 18' Pulse are in the same weight neighborhood.

Okay. Got a 21" Trophy Plus today from a S&F member. Came on the "brown truck" and he did a fine job of packing and the prop looks nice. Bolted it up and headed out for the lake late this evening. I like the hole shot and it is running in the right rpm range for my 2.0 liter 150, but I seem to have left a couple of MPH behind somewhere...

Here's a run down of the props I have tried on my 18' Exciter powered by a fresh 2.0 150 liter. All speeds were from H2O meter and w/o a low water p/u, I'm running @ 4" below. I'm going to try to raise the motor a bit more this weekend before another run to see what difference I get in RPM while keeping a close ee on water pressure.

23" Stiletto that was repitched and etched w/"22P" on the side:5300 RPM @ 60 MPH. Weak hole shot, but has netted the best speed to date....

21" Laser II: 5900 RPM@ 59.5?? MPH. Seems to "slip" alot and will blow out w/ANY steering input at speed.

21" Trophy Plus: 5800 RPM@ 57 MPH. Fantastic hole shot. I'm wondering why the speed is down, however.

The Trophy may need some more seat time to realize it's potential, but I don't think I can make up 3 MPH. Holeshot is fantastic with it, however. I'm thinking more motor height and more pitch.......

I'm going to raise it up some more tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to do it the hard way. I have a 10" extension, but it has no other height adjustment avaiable other than a series of holes.
