400 Mercury

JJG- congrats! :thumb:

Hey, I am curious how you went about the trade-in. I too have a 2014 Pulsare 2400(long deck), with a 300xs.

1. Did you go through Mercury's reporter program?
2. A particular Mercury dealer?
3. Do you know if Most Mercury dealers do trades ?
4. Mercury direct?
5. ....

Thanks in advance mate.

Just negotiated a price on the trade and that was it. Most dealers will do trades especially on lightly used motors. For you since you have an opti you will need DTS controls and smartcraft gauges if you dont already have them, I'm not sure how the opti's come these days.

Thanks dude... I just re-read my post. I meant to say Mercury's "re-power" program(spell check got me)

Anyway... Thanks that's helpful. I do already have DTS and Smartcraft gauges.

I bet you are stoked!! I may follow suite.

Yes anxious to say the least. Looks like early may for delivery. Now after I have this one all dialed in its time to start over. Thats the fun of this hobby you can create all the fun you want its just a matter of how much you want to spend.

I didnt know the optis had DTS as an option or is it std ?

Actually only around $15k with the trade. It would cost more than that to bolt 100hp on to a big block plus drive work to do it the correct way. In this case I get a whole motor & new sportmaster drive for $15k !! And dont forget the 85mph to go along with it !!!

I could probably get close to the 85 mark for a decent amount less than 15k.:poke: Prochargers aren't very expensive to add on.

Did you look that up on google? :poke: See...the stick poke makes my comment seem funny instead of being an A-hole crapping on another guy's birthday cake.

Cool I think you should do it and we can see who blows up first. I will practice my wave and have my tow rope at the ready !!!:rof:

I may do it in a few years. It'll take the boost with no worries of failure as long as I don't get carried away. In the meantime I will keep starring at the back of your boat as you pull away.

This is from an old story in boating Mag...

However, a Merc Racing 700 SCi/NXT carries a retail price of $90,903 excluding prop

New engine pricing is through the roof no matter the power.

You guys have to remember these outboards are a package price for a new unit.

Hell, I would imagine a new 525SC/drive would be more than than 30K.

Congrats on the purchase by the way. :thumb:

Thanks illmattic!! You are correct on the cost of power, they dont do a 525sci now but even that is around $15k more than the 8.2HO. 600sci is a $50k option.
Keep in mind anything merc racing does with a SC has a transmission so that adds a lot of cost.

Looking forward to seeing how that puppy wrings out. I wouldn't be afraid of the white color with yellow and black stripes. That would look completely trick on your ride!:thumb:

I like the white as well however if I got tired of it the change would be expensive. Im going with black and will add the yellow accent stripes.
About 2 weeks till the double deuce gets delivered !!!

jjg, I was out on the boat today and noticed the coastguard sticker near the throttle has 350 HP as the max. Are you going to get a new sticker that has 400 HP assuming you can?
