400R Eating Props

Another One Bites the Dust

I need to start a prop junkyard. I broke my 4th prop yesterday on the Delaware.:brickwall: It was a Tempest Plus 3 blade. This was the one that I had a slight bend on one of the ears and had BBlades repair it and change the pitch from 23p to 24p.

The only common factor on all 4 broken props was a light load in the boat and all were fresh water. I guess I drive too fast:confused:

I think I'm going to take out a life insurance policy on you. LOL

At least you are keeping a small contingent of people employed.

I don't think you know how to slow down. If you do, you are going to be in a serious state of depression. :D :rof:

I didn't read the whole thread but were all of theses props that broke "worked"? Often they are thinned I'm the process and more prone to breaking.

Have you tried a Hydromotive casting yet? They are much beefier and probably much better metallurgy than Merc's. I rarely ever hear of those cracking like that.

Hey Chuck,

I would definitely give Thom a call at Hydromotive. Todd was just in a bad accident, so they may be a bit backed up, but I think they would be willing to support you

I agree I drive a little crazy especially w/o the family on board although my wife would disagree and say I drive like I'm constantly in a race or that I'm driving like a stole it. I know I air out these props a bit when trimmed up but who wants to give up some RPMs/HPs when turning at higher speeds... Plus I'm addicted to the cool rooster tail especially with the 3 blade props and I always make sure I don't cavitate or redline. Redline on these is 8k RPM right:poke:

Before I go to the new very expensive props, I just ordered a slightly used Croxton Razor 3 from someone on BBC for what I think is a good price. Supposedly they guarantee against throwing blades and I'm sure to put it to the test with a spare on board.

I know when you take a ride with Chuck you start to think you should have wings because of the amount of air time you get to experience! :poke::rof:

In all seriousness, guys are running nearly triple digits with 22 Velocities with very high prop heights with an occasional broken blade but nothing like the regularity with which it's happening to you.

Pretty sure its the waketower causing this. Take it off and see how it does hahaha ! Iknow guys running 1000hp and not throwing blades hmmmmm.
Boats with wake towers are only meant to go 40 mph while creating a tsunami and driven by douches in monster energy hats while there are no wakeboards present on the boat....Don't cha know!

We need to mount some wings on that waketower to get more air....those blades are dragging too much :poke:

I don't think Chuck likes to see the tach under 7000. Hull in the air or water it makes no difference. I contacted the FAA to see if they can issue Chuck a pilots license for low flying craft. Just a matter of time, we know government doesn't move as fast as his Pulsare.
