What size will most of the boats be? Some of us smaller guys might want to get out early one morning before the waves start to get some high speed running in.

There will be all sizes, don't worry about the water we can go a couple of miles out of CB and we will have miles of good water. It is a little rough around the marinas due to all the boat traffic but the lake is big and it clears out pretty quick.

Just got back from the lake, the water was great. The rally is almost here and i can't wait for everyone to get here.A lot of locals want to hang out with us even though they don't have Checkmates,i told them we would be glad to have them. You never know we might convert them,or corrupt them!!!!!!

Glad to see someone having agood Summer so far!! I plan on still making it down with the starlite on thurs morning the 15th.

Just sitting here watching it rain this sunday afternoon. What I'm saving on boat gas I'm spending on air conditioning this summer. Just plain muggy everyday.
Its about time to dig thru the garage attic and find all my camping gear from over the yrs.
See everyone in a few weeks! Jeff

It's been realy hot here and a few storms. The water is just right for cooling off.however, you must drink plenty off cold refreshments!!!!!!!!!!

MAN!!! I would give anything to make it to this- it's only a few hours awy too- but damn....I will not be able to make it this time- maybe next year....You guys have fun!!!!!!

was in a accident Saturday

I was towing a boat Saturday on the freeway it came off the hitch. I was doing 55+ and all of the sudden I see the boat taking off towards the center divider. The safety chain caught and pulled my truck almost sideways, Then the boat shot back towards the shoulder so I followed it. I had to speed up to take the slack out of the chain to straighten it out. Then I had to put on the brakes and let the boat hit my truck to slow it down The first impact broke the straps and put the boat almost sideways on the trailer from the nose hitting my truck. Then it bounced off my truck 3 more times before I got it to a stop.
All the years I have towed boats and trailers I never had this happen to me.

I got it to the shoulder it scared the crap out of me and to think what could of happened.
There was no cars around me, I was all over a 4 lane highway regaining control, the boat almost came off the trailer, My truck almost jackknifed on the first let loose. I was towing a customers 20' boat, My son was with me us and other people could have been hurt or killed.

I called a tow truck they lifted the boat and straighten it on the trailer. The boat was not hurt and the trailer was ok except for the hitch the tongue latch was bent they towed the boat for me. The back of my new GMC is hammered I can't even open the tail gate. I turned it into Insurance and it is going into the shop this week. I don't know if it will be done in time. Also it made me think do I want to tow my Convincor 5000 Miles?, at this point I think not.
So I had a 2" ball and the trailer said it takes a 2" ball "WTF" Checking out the trailer the ball can be knocked out, so I tried a 2-5/16 ball would not go in. It was damaged before and I did not know it. It could have cost a lot more damage or a life. I will evaluate a unknown trailer closer before I tow it anywhere in the future.
As for now my tow rig is damaged and I will have to see how it goes.

SCARY SH$%..... glad to hear no one was hurt.

Damn Mike, glad no one was hurt. Sounds like the adjuster nut was not tight enough allowing the hitch to pop right off. I have been lucky as I have never had this happen. If its a foreign trailer to me, I latch the hitch to the ball before sliding the receiver into the hitch and make sure it don't come off or lock it down then jack the tounge jack back up. I was a traffic supervisor for an asphalt company for a while and I don't know how many times I had to go to a accident where the trailer came off the truck. The worst was a 32'er that had +10000# of cones on it. came off due to the pintle not being latched down. went across 3 lanes and burried itself into the opposite side of the roads embankment. The trailer was now about a 18'er and looked like a cone factory blew up as there was cones spread over a 300' area. BTW, that was the trailers first and only time used. Thank god no one was killed in that one. I had pics on my old phone as it was such an amazing sight.

Glad you're ok. I hope that you are able to come. I was really looking forward to meeting you and seeing your setup and showing off mine.
