CHECKMATE WEEKEND 2014

Seven points marina has a bunch of houseboats for rent at Raystown as well as the resort. Anything from 4 persons to 10. Some have hottubs.

Only thing that sucks is there's no other places to run to. On the chester we could run to a couple of places to grab food or a drink. Ocean city md has a lot of places to run to plus the island.

I am not sure if you are allowed to run on Sinepxent Bay (inlet side of Assateague). I have been to Assateague many times by car, but have never seen power boats on the bay side. Have only seen canoes and the the tour boats. Since it is a park and wildlife preserve, I am thinking you can't. I could not find anything on line about this. Maybe some one on here knows.

There is still plenty of bay to run in for sure. I have always wanted to do O.C. but we would have to lock a place in early. Places to stay fill up fast. And we would need to be on the bay side, hopefully on the water or at least near a ramp. A canal would be best. Slips are at a premium down there. We may need to research OC this year and do it the following year. I would be willing to go there and look at condos, slips, and ramps.

I too liked running the Chester river. It was nice water. No speed limits. No Wet Police. Maybe do Chester one more time and O.C. the following year.

.

Parking is also at a premium in my experience at Ocean City. No trailers are allowed to be parked on the street during the summer. There is at least one large public trailer parking area but I don't know if there's more. We beached on Assateague just south of the inlet and there was a bunch of people there. Maybe further south it could be a problem but I'm not sure.

I don't know much about boating in OC. I've only been there to vacation years ago. My questions, concerns
are there places that are big enough for us or is everyone to get their own place?
Would we be putting in and out everyday and then where do you keep your boat?
I'm not good with leaving anything where I can't keep an eye on it.
I'm also thinking about money. The houses that we all pitch in on is way cheaper then each getting their own place. I probaly spent close to a grand last year and that was just pitching in on the place plus fuel, food and refreshments. I don't want to think what its gonna be if I have to pay for a room for 3 nights. I'm also just stuck on haveing our own place with no one to bother us. So which house you all want?:D

I found a house boat for ya.

Maybe this time we'll get to run together Bob. And we all better start saving for fuel cuz my boat only knows one speed and that's wide open.

Absolutely. I had to cut it short last year. Plus the rain put me a day behind on the front end.

I already have some gas money saved, long as the wife doesn't find it!

Are you gonna make the trip this year problem child?

I am planning to be there. Im waiting to see where and when its going down. I am a little concerned about having room for all the newbies coming this year. We might stay at a motel near by possibly. If I was coming alone i would be fine sleeping in my boat but momma dont play dat. I see a big ole party brewing.

We will have to set a poll up for where we will have it. Also a little problem is ram rented the house for us last year and I dont think he will be able to this year. I was going to try to do it this year but my boat, house and wife are sucking all of my money up. That was why I was looking into camp grounds and such. I will talk with ram to see what we can do. Then we will get a date together.

what about this house. sleeps 18-20 more than the other one and is in same area for price, is real close if we need a second house the other is still an option, this area is good for both small and big boats and gives us a couple of different options for places to run to like jellyfish joel's, Chesapeake inn, nauti goose. we have to think about if more people show up. and this place looks like a great place to party......

If our checkmate friends from other countries fly into Philadelphia int. airport, we might be able to pick them up on the way down if they want to tag along.

let me know we might be able to pick it up for 1st or last weekend in june. whats everybody think

I think it might be a little pricy at $7000 but I am looking at the one right around the corner right now actually. Looking at it on google earth its huge property with a pier that will fit around 12 before rafting off with 6 yes 6 lifts. Theres a marina on the same road about half mile away with ramp, gas etc. I'll get some pics of it in a min.

Click link the turn the map veiw to satalite. The place is huge. Theres a marina right across and 2 over to the right around the point. Looks like the price would be around 600 a night with a min of only 3.

I also looked at anywhere you could get a room on or near the water and your looking at more for one night their then to pitch in on the house deal. I believe it sleeps like 16 inside and as many tents as you want on the lawn. The yard is big enough to park an army. You guys can flip on the rooms. I come with my own.

Sorry about that, I did the search on my cell phone and when i brought up the 1st weekend of june it showed a lot less. if it was 1000.00 a nite that wouldn't be that bad if we have enough people but oh well scratch that one.

just realized I was looking at the one price page for both houses. Im game for that house keith. hopefully it will have enough room if more people come this year.
