Coolest pontoon boat?

Aluminum pontoon advantages:

1) Don't need a boat lift, let her sit in the water.

2) Light weight, need a lesser tow vehicle.

3) best for sloooooow cruising

4) Very shallow draft

5) Take ALL your friends

6) Take ALL your crap with you!

Does it have to be a actual pontoon boat?

Or would a "deck" style boat be ok too?

I was pretty hot over a deck boat, but then you need a $5,000 lift. This pontoon appears to run with the decks and can just sit in the water. The video is amazing

yeah, i've seen that. But it's a one-off. My closest boat dealer sells the Manitou with big Hondas on the back..................

Yeah it is cuz of dual transoms but thier big boat is rated for either a 502 or a 300 outboard, so it would still be a pretty nasty pontoon.

I just took one of these "SHP" pontoon boats by Manitou for a test drive today. These things are awesome!

You would not believe how tight they turn. I had it wide open running 46mph on the gauge and turned as quick as I could, this pontoon just dugged in on the inside and lifted out on the other and turned on a 'dime'.
The dealer had it set up with a 175hp ETEC......I don't know much about outboards but this thing was so quiet. I had it turning around 5300 rpm and could still carry on a conversation.
The dealer said the key to the performance is the tri hull configuration...the center tube is 5" larger in diameter then the outside tubes.

The major downfall.....the price....$34,000 w/ aluminum trailer (End of season special!). For that kind of money I think I would rather see a new Checkmate in the drive.

OK guys. I had a demo pontoon this year that was awesome. It was a Premier 250 Grand Majestic with a PTX package and a 250hp Yamaha 4-stroke on the back. It ran 50mph plus and turned just as good as the Manitou but seems to handle the rough water better. Fit and finish is awesome. Sorry if it seems like a shameless plug but I love these boats. www.pontoons.com check it out and I'm close to you JW.

Jeff,
How much are the Premier's PTX listing at?

For a 2007 Premier Legend 250 with a Optimax 225 and PTX package they are going for $37,939.00 plus tax, trailer and registration. If there are any board members looking for a qoute on something like this, send me an e-mail and I will give you better pricing than at the GR boat show! Forum members only!

2 for 1

For the cost of 1 new 27 fountain you could have a couple year old 27/28 checkmate and a new top of the line pontoon with a bar/changing room and all the toys, sounds like a plan to me.

Is the center tube bigger than the outside tubes? I thought Manitou got a patent for that..............

Actually Premier has been doing it for years. It is a 36" U shaped center tube with a 12" planing pod. Hydrodynamic nose cones, 2 piece. 16" on center crossmembers and so on. Highest quality pontoon made.

Never knew that. I sort of stopped visiting Premier after they dropped Checkmate inventory. I started doing my own winterization about that time too. So I haven't been around for a while. I did try to buy that nice Predictor you had in there several months ago, but whomever I contacted via e-mail didn't want to pull the gross 100 horse motor off the back and sell me just the hull/trailer..............:D

I know, I think it was Ryan or Gary. Ryan did not want to seperate the package. I kick myself everyday for not buying that boat. Don't be a stranger, stop by once in a while.
