my checkmate has a chevy 350 in it push's about 400 horse but i can keep heads on it. i started out with worlds on it but they went now just have stock an that created alot more problems. where can i start or go to get a good used or rebuild engine for my boat. i've looked all over the internet but im realy new to what i can do with my checkmate an its capabilities

what price range do you have 350s are all over. merc makes remans, you can go many different places and purchase different marine moters, flagship, or even jasper although i am not a big fan of there moters parts should be easy to find for that moter what do you need.

Hey, just put a BIG BLOCK in it:D..
There are lots of 350's out there, just make sure it is a MARINE engine not an automotive replacement engine.
Jasper Flagship or just go to your local Mercruiser Marine dealer, you can get a fully dressed motor and they have a full warranty:bigthumb:

You need to explain more. What keeps happening to the heads ? World Products makes a good set of heads.

Took the words right outta my mouth. The World heads didn't cuase your problems. What happened to the heads? What happend to your mota when ya strapped the stockers on?? What cam are you running? Specs? Thru-transom exhaust? Compression?

Like Red said. What's going on? Are you breaking valve train parts or blowing head gaskets. If you cant keep gaskets on it the deck surface on the block is most likely warped.Either that or your not torquing the heads down properly.Don't buy that new motor yet.You might be able to salvage the one you have.

You need to get more detailed so these guys can help you out.:D

Oh! and bye the way :welcome:

i did finaly figure out that the deck is worper..but it was also the weekend of the fourth you realy think im goin to miss that weekend so we throught it together agian to limp through it thats when i made more problems...now the wife doesnt want me to spend a ton of money right now to fix it before boating season. i think if i can get the boat back to running 70+ agian i'll be happy. but with out alot of money involved maybe just take the motor out an have it decked an plained an boreded agian an we'll see what happens....I do have throught exhuast for who was asking and an compression i'm not sure right now.i do want to say im glad i found this site now...realy didnt think there where this many checkmate boats around

If you already had this block decked and bored I would might consider another block. If you keep decking the same block your going to run in problems with compression and the intake alignment in meaning the bolts wont align right and the intake will leak. I would have a good machine shop look at your block.
