Finally, motors are on and running. took it out for a quickie last Sunday. Motors run great but the trim tabs were not working. Fixed those and I'm headed to the river for a long Labor Day weekend. Might get cut short 'cause of the hurricane but at least I'll get a couple days in.

Huge difference over the 200's. Could not run them up much because the porposing was so bad. Hit 50 mph @ 4K, got 3200 to 3500 rpm left. YeeHaa The Offshore exhast sounds awsome too...

I'll be back Monday if the storm does not send me packing sooner...Lates

I hope the storm doesn't hit too hard over there, :irked: wasn't it just earlier this week,or the end of last week you guys got nailed with LOTS of rain?

Just got back in town....another lousy (weather) weekend.

Pulse185..."hammered" is an understatement. 3-rooms flooded in my basement. spend 2-days ripping out the carpet and drying things out. Lots had it worse than me. Forced me to do a long needed cleanout.

Ran the boat Thursday and Friday this past week. Took it easy for 3+ hours seating the rings and checking things out. Still a few bugs to work out. The difference with the 260's is really impressive.

Getting some surging under hard acceleration above 4000. Seeing it on both engines so I'm checking out the fuel delivery first. Batteries and charging next...Anybody have any other suggestions????

Finally some decent weather and calm water!!!
Got the charging problem fixed. New batteries were weak and the ECU's were cutting out above 4500 rpm. Running great now.

Experiencig bad chinewalking around 68 mph. Never had this before. Have run boat with CLE's and lowers with Bob's nosecones and never had this problem. Motor height is the same (1-1/2 below transom) and 24" setback. Same props (14-1/2 x 28 labbed 3- blade choppers). New motors have sportmasters. Having to run alot of tab to keep the nose down and eliminate porpoising. Saw 72 mph @ 6000 (GPS) but the chinewalking got really bad.

Thinking about trying some 4-blades....Any thoughts.

HEMIBEE, I BELIEVE FOUR BLADES WILL GIVE YOU EVEN MORE BOW LIFT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR HAVING TROUBLE KEEPING THE BOW DOWN. I THINK THAT YOU MAY NEED TO EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR MOTOR HEIGHTS BEING THAT YOU HAVE DIFFERENT LOWER UNITS THAN BEFORE.

cool boat!were on the chesapeak do you run your boat?i have a 95 253 convicor and i run on the chesapeak between baltimore, annapolis and kent island. :thumb:

Thanks gmiller... Welcome to the board.
I have a place on the Little Wicomico River at Smith Point. Right where the Potomac meets the Chesapeake Bay. I boat mostly in that area but make it up to Solomons a couple times a year and go to Crisfield fairly regular.

Hope to make it to your area next summer. If you're ever down my way let me know.....

i will let you know if i make it down your way and you do the same if you make it up this way if you do you have to check out RED EYEY'S dock bar.
do you have any pics of your cabin?how can i get some of my pics on the site and whats the deal with the karma thing on this site?

HemiBee and gmiller699.. You guys run in the bay.. The last few times I was in the bay area I was not to happy. Most reciently I was on the Patapsco out from Rivera Beach the water was to rough. Before that I was on the South River and The Severn, they are to conjested with rentals and non drivers I did'nt feel safe.
I like "my river". I go on the Patuxent up north of Benidect. The pic's I posted in "IN THE WATER AT LAST" show how the water is all day any day.

donconvincer
your right the patapsco can be very rough.there is allways a lot of ship and pleasure boat traffic.but i dont have much choice i keep my boat on stoney creek during the summer.its been a long time since i was on south river.i used to go water skiing before work when i worked at the dealership in annapolis.the only time i ever get close to the severn is when we go to annapolis harbor. :thumb:I like boating in my area because i have two realy cool islands to hang out at twenty minutes away in either direction(hart miller is.balt and dobbins is. on the magothy river.we are also close to rock hall and kent island.i live a couple of miles from river beach do you have family or friends there?BY THE WAY IS ANY ONE GOING TO THE BIG IN WATER ANNAPOLIS BOAT SHOW NEXT MONTH?

Years ago I use to Ski on the Rhode River (UNTILL ABOUT 82). My Grandmother lives there and my uncle lives next door. I stopped going there on a regular basis because the good ramp closed to the public and the ramp on Cadle Creek is realy bad and there nettles after mid July. The Patuxent is brackish but up north it's pretty fresh. The Patuxent also has very little traffic so its GREAT FOR SKIING

Don, we definitely have to pick our days when we can venture out of the river and into the bay. But on calm days it's hard to beat...We too have an awsome island right at the mouth of my river with about 2-1/2 miles of sandy beach. Deep water right up to shore to anchor and hang out.

When I come out of my river and go left I'm in Maryland waters...straight or right I'm in Virginia ...awsome fishing where the Potomac meets the bay and I get to fish both states seasons. That is when I'm not blazing in the Checkmate :thumb:

HemiBee:
What kind of boating can you find in the Roanoke area?
My wife has a possibility of a transfer to there, what is the weather like in the area from nov.- april?
Any info would be helpful.

Thanks.

Hey Pulse, Roanoke is about 3-hours from Richmond....Not real familiar with that area but I think Smith Mountain Lake is near there. Never been but heard it's really a nice lake and lots of hot boats. I have a place on the Chesapeake Bay so I go in the opposite direction. Plan on going up there sometime though.

Roanoke is in the mountains so it can be cold. I don't think it's too severe there. All the Northern guys on here would probably think it's summer....

Good luck with the move, hope it works out for you.

HEMIBEE,
Getting togather down at Solomans might be do-able. It might be to late in the season to plan it for this year. Next weekend (10/02)I ?might? be out but then the next weekend I have free is Nov.6th. I've been out as late as Thanksgiving but thats usualy the weekend I winterize and wait for April.

pulse,
This time of year it might be real warm during the day but when that sun goes down burr...
I like June when it stays light untill after 9:00pm, getting dark at 7:00 sucks.. Winters here rarely get below the teens above and thats only a few days late Dec through early Feb. When it snows its usualy gone in a few days. It's warm enough to get get out the first time mid April and go skiing early May.
