How much to ask?

Hello there fella's from cold and rainy Alabama. It's been a while since I've been on, but I hope all is well. I come to you guys tonight for advice, and with a heavy heart. I think the time has come to part ways with my beloved Checkmate, but I don't know what I should ask for it. It is a 1980 21 ft Entertainer, with an I/O 350 I replaced in 1996 and have used for three or four summers with this engine. This boat has been in my family since it was brand new, and has always been kept in covered storage. Since I got it, I've had the clear coat resprayed to give it a shine like new (she's blue and silver metalflake) and had the seats custom recovered to match the originals from Checkmate. I have recarpeted the boat, and added a decent stereo with Bose marine speakers. Aside from replacing the engine with a Jasper marine engine, I've replaced the carburater, had the gimbal bearing and outdrive rebuilt, rebuilt the power trim pump, rewired the ignition, etc. etc. I have it looking and running as close to brand new as you can get a boat. It looks today like it did when my uncle brought it home when I was 9. I've spent over $13k restoring her, but I never expected to get that much back out of her. That isn't why I restored it. I was thinking around $8k ... what do you guys think?

I can definitely see your point, but it's been a while since I've posted pictures here, and I can't figure out how to do it! Not to mention recently moving from a pc to a mac, which has made everything just a little bit different! Is there anyway to post pictures straight from my photo gallery on my hard drive?

I'd say about $2K.... I'll be down Monday to get it....lol

Seriously, though, thats a sharp boat. i have no idea on the value, especially in this economy. i'd say $5-7K. If you can wait till the weather gets nicer out, and boating fever kicks in, you will get more.

I couldn't do it!

Well, the Checkmate will be remaining a key part of my fleet for years to come. I could not bring myself to sell her. Just too good of a boat, and too much fun. I am going to get a fishing boat, but not at the expense of my Entertainer! Me and that boat are going to die together one day!

Very nice boat.. I'd keep it also.. What the hell,, If you don't need the $$$.. and in good health.. What is the cost .. Gas and polish, maintance.. My Girlfriends son lives in Morris, AL. and boats on some river down there.. Can I catch a ride on yours??

Good Call! Keep the boat, ditch the wife!
