I found an odd device! wonder what it is!

Hello all,
I just bought my first 25' Checkmate Convincor. She is a 1982 but seems to be in pretty good shape. I was in the process of replacing the floor and when I removed the port side panel where the little cubby holes are I found a device that has a bunch of clear plastic tubes coming out of it. The tubes all come from one of the cubby holes and the go to this device and then they come out of it to a little panel on the wall to the port side as soon as you step down into the cabin. It has a little door that you pull out and you can see the tubes zip tied together in this little door. It also has about 6 buttons on this panel as well. The only thing written on the device is Thompson Electric corp. model 230. Now after a few beers my friend and I came of with the idea that it is some sort of electronic drink mixer. You know you put one tube in a bottle in the cubby and push a button and it gives you say vodka or push another button and it gives you OJ. Well it made sense when we had been working on the floor all day! heh heh! Anyway if someone has any insight as to what this might be I would be greatful. Thanks and I look forward chatting with you guys more in the future. If it is a drink mixer Man,! Those Checkmate guys think of everything! None the less I love the boat!
Adios,
Barry

I think thats the flux capasator your talking about...it should be connected to the time travel modulator...

Welcome Barry I have no clue what you are talking about...pics would help Im sure...
Welcome and Im sure youll find anything you need to know about checkmates on this site.

Alrighty, I honestly haven't a clue.

Coop will know I suspect.

In the meantime since we're taking guesses....

Does it control the lights perhaps?

I think you are on the right path. we had a customer with a drink mixer on board a 26 sea ray bowrider. had a hose end with four or five different flavours and the bottles were stored underneath (looks like the same device they use in bars). Needless to say, this guy liked his cocktails!

Now you just need to find a little plutonium to make it work.

Sounds like a drink mixer to me. But a pic would help.

With a bunch of clear plastic lines, it could be part of a musical air horn. But I have never seen one on a boat. Just 4X4 trucks and orange Dodge Chargers with Rebel flags on the roof.

Hey guys I have some pics I took of the device. I am not sure how to get them on the site. Can someone give me a hand in posting them? I am really curious! It would really be awesome if it was a drink mixer! White trash bash here we come(an annual event here on one of our islands)! heh heh!!

IT LOOKS LIKE SOME TYPE OF ELECTRIC SOLENOID BOX. I CAN SAY I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT.

ARE THERE ANY WIRES GOING FROM THE PANEL WITH THE BUTTONS ON IT TO THE BOX WITH ALL THE HOSES?

ODD INDEED

Yes the buttons from the panel are wired directly to the box with all the clear tubes. I have tried to search on the web for Thompson Electric corp. and I had no luck in finding out what it is. I guess the company is no longer in business or something. It is odd to say the least.

Also I was wondering since I am here. I was told that this is a 1982 25' Convincor. However, there are no markings on the boat and the title does not give me the model or anything. Could someone verify the model for me? When did they go from the 251 to the 253,259, etc. I have added the pictures below. Thanks,
-Barry

This is the closest thing I can find. Give them a call and see what you can find.

Thomas Electric
510 Middle Tennessee Blvd, Murfreesboro
Murfreesboro, TN

(615) 896-0025

I tried them. They are an electric company for doing home or business electrical wiring. Thanks for the info though. The mystery continues!

Those lines look a little small to be a drink dispenser. Whatever it is its nicely rigged, I'll give it that.

im with you, some type of liquid mixer.
it looks like in the main box there may be some small roller style pumps....similar to what is used to feed liquid chlorine into a swimming pool automatically. when a button is pushed it activates the appropriate pump and pumps the liquid out the spout youve got your finger on in the photo....
id pull one of the covers off and check it out....its interesting...let me know how it works!!! or if you need help testing it!!

This MUST have been one of Kip's old boats. Yup. That explains it!

I did a little research my self and the only thing that I could find out is that it appears Thomas Electric may now be Thomas&Betts Electric of Nashville. I tried to call them today, but could not get anyone on the phone. The number that I came up with is 615-325-6800. boatman
