Jack Plate Help?!

DublinDude

New member
I have a '78 Checkmate Predictor w/a '78 Merc 900.

Any advice on a Jack Plate Set Back? Looking at a bargain for a 6" set back. Since the boat is a 17 footer, I've been told that's likely a good set back distance.

Any opinions would be appreciated!!! :brickwall:

Thx.

I ran a 5.5" CMC on mine when I had it with a 2.4 200 Merc and my buddy is also running a 5.5" on his with a Johnson 140. You will have to drill a couple holes for your bottom bolts and make a block spacer for the clamps on if your 900 has clamps on top. I put the original inline 90 back on mine when I sold it and that's what I had to do, I used old belt scraper material from a coal mine. Sorry I don't have any pics of it...

Jack Plate Help...thanks

Thanks for the replies....

The one I discovered is a 6" SB so from your info I think that will work! It's Hydraulic as well....which I'd prefer.

Thanks again for the info...:bigthumb:
