Just got in a new Checkmate 28 OBX twin outboard

Dang Randy, that is one sweet boat!!! I like a lot of the interior upgrades. I might have to bring my boat back to CM to get upgraded this winter.

Now dump those 225s and throw a pair of XS Mercs on it so we can race!!

Wildman, that boat is sick!!!! Excellent color combo, and gell looks spectacular! One thing i have always loved is the fiberglass windshields, makes the boat look more offshore-ish and cleaner IMHO! Very nice! :thumb:

that thing is absolutely awesome:drool: not sure i am sold on the back seat but other than that......VERY nice boat....even with those motors:thumb:

Absolutely stunning. I am sportin some serious wood right now. That boat would make me switch from a car mota guy to an egg beater guy.:bigthumb:

I love some of the options. You gotta love the built in fender storage under the rear hatch. Yet, still no decent way to get from the cockpit onto the deck. I might have also opted for some big ole billet trim tabs or at least something like a set of the 280's.

Absolutely love it!!!

So Randy, what do you think it will run as it is currently rigged?

Nice CM. Not sure what somebody was thinking with the Garmin (420x?) stuck over on the port dash looking at the sky. They will shut down in overheat mode if they are pointed into the sun.

Spec 28 for stock? I like your style. Interested to see what it runs with the 225 optis as well.

awesome boat one of the best looking Checkmates out there . thanks for the great pics. The new boats from Checkmate just seem to get better and better with the grafics and interior pieces. I also like the fairing vs the windshield.

That boat is gorgeous Randy!! One question, when you're looking in the cabin towards the bow, there are two access doors to the left and right of the Portapotti. How do you open the doors? From the picture it looks like the armrests are in the way. Can't wait to hear some speed numbers with the 225's. Should be economical to run!!

That boat makes me want to graduate from Pulsares up to a real "Big Boy" toy...seriously nice boat.

prob gonna get shot for this. lol but here goes.

love the boat, love the windshield being fiber glass, love the upgrades to interior love just about everything even the trailer is sweet.

im not a red fan at all. never really liked red cars, boats, bikes etc but that color combo looks great. i like it.

issues i would change

1 i hate the gps set up. looks stupid and its in a stupid spot. (maybe would have moved the compass over and mounted it there with a little angle to the glass to aim towards driver.)

2. the white switches under the tabs (guessing its trim for motors?) really, white????????????? thats just plane silly someone wasnt paying attention on that. looks like they should have been black but they had white and just used them. swap those out

3. not 100% on the rear seat. id have to sit in it.

4.i say put the rails back on it. i love the look of the stainless rails on these boats. esp with the deck still molded for them. looks like its missing something.

5. bigger tabs (esp if it had 300's on it)

over all i like it a lot. just a few things i would change.

i liked the pop up bow light as well, id like to see that back in the boat. i think its cleaner.

speed, im thinking 62-65 mph with little to no "stuff" on board

The boat runs awesome! Jumps on plane in 3 seconds with 26 Bravos. I think the motors are too high though. Runs 67 at 5750 rpm which is on the limiter. Great handling and alot of fun to drive. It will probably end up with 300XS motors if I can sell these 225's. Here's some pics.
