Let's see your best rooster tail pics

Look at this rooster!!!

Ok it's not a Checkmate but it's worth a quick look. This is my friends 454 jet doing a fly by last month. I know they are not way way fast but they sure look and sound so good. I think my next project needs to be a jet. It's going to be hard to find a Checkmate jet. I wonder if I could convert an I/O boat to a jet? I found 2 on E-bay this month but one is much to nice and only 5 miles away. The other is a perfect project boat but to far away.

Not as good as the pic above but here are some more pics I took today. They aren't the best but it's all I got when I'm alone. I'll try to get a passenger to take pics for me before I head back to Arizona at the end of the week.

Captainmorgan

Let's see that pic captain I know the one that you are talking about. I also want to see some shots of the tunnel!

Oh you poor poor outboard boys with you inadequate rooster tails. LoL Just stirring the pot. It not a checkmate. But I sure could throw a mean rooster with it 1050hp.

Mike tell me about your jet. Is it a flat V or is that a tunnel? Does it have a blower? Is it Ford, chevy or olds powered? Berkley pump or some tricked out job? Looks like a big boat is it over 20'? Thanks Fred

That was the same Dave Adems Liberator as Wildman's 21'ers. Just a jet form.
Mine had a custom built blown 509 Dart (chevy) Block /heads pushed 1050hp. The pump started Life a a berk G that had a lot of help from MPD that thing ran hard. Love it. I sold the boat to a guy down in AZ and I put a 502/502 in it. The motor was sold off in parts so it is long gone. Now I just have my 251GTX

Fast Jet boat

Thanks for the info Mike. That is one bad azz jet boat you had. I bet that beast could run in the triple digitus any time you wanted it to. Nice pick of the new boat as well. I think the new boat may use less gas than the old monster motor but I could be wrong. You just never know what may be under the engine hatch of a Checkmate

making snow cause it was 30 degrees this day jan05

coming from tangeir island after fixing peoples heat. only a fool would be out there in the winter time. only a redneck would have been doing it for the past 20 years. believe me, my whole face was red too, not just neck, and the ice had thawed making it easier to pull the boat up. the crab meat was good too, cause i dont risk it for nothing. and it dont take me an hour to get there. down to 5 minutes in tunnel, but i dont make much on the service call cause it took 15 gallons of 89 plus oil/ one way. still, theres no better way to go to work.

A couple weak shots of my '87 Starflite.....will get better pics later this week.

My tilt ram doesn't seem to be up to the task of holding the up the motor at WOT. It always gets pushed back onto the trim rams so i can't get the speed I'm after or a decent roost.... :(

Alright I have an update. I made extensions for the trim rams so now I can hold the motor where I want it. Does it look like I'm packing some air now? hehe.

This is fun post. Great pics and GREAT BOATS by all.

While everyone agrees roosters are cool and impress the daylights just about any spectators on the shore ( or anybody who just happens to be gawking at that those really sharp boats) the most impressive rooster tail to me is guy who has one that shows me that his boat is dialed in and he's not wasting any power on a shower of water going up in the air behind the transom. Too much trim angle and just watch the "R's" go up and the speed go down. But everybody cheers at your rooster though.

Based on what I've looked at both iLLMattic and Jkeeper have rooster's that are flat & solid ( no froth) and pushing out as much water as that prop can handle .... which is when it's hooked up right can spit out. That's doing your homework.

" Can you say very nice set-up work ??"
