They are trying to plan the 5th Annual Muskoka Checkmate Rally that runs through Lake Muskoka, Lake Joesph and Lake Rosseau.

At this time the tenative weekends are as follows and would like to avoid conflicts to try an attract some south of the boarder members to join us.

Sat July 20th
or
Sat Aug 10th

The organizer still needs to confirm a few details on his end for the lunch and morning meetting places. Once confirmed we will work on a route and plan for the day.

in advance thanks "Muskoka" for organizing this event.

I'd love to travel north of the border. The latter will work better for me as I'm going to the Kentucky Rally tis year too.

Is there a listing of all the events as we would like to avoid a conflict and try an attract a few new people.

Muskoka rally

Wouldn't miss it Ian. Either date works for me. This is a fantastic event with a great group of enthusiasts. Après rally gas powered blender drinks are killer.

Muskoka Checkmate Rally date selection

Thanks for your input, sounds like Sat. Aug 10th date might work best for those who replied. ianz and I are still checking all the competing events in the area, and will lock down the date soon. Pencil this in your calendar and invite your other Mates. Open event, no registration fee! Full day rip of the beautiful Muskoka Lakes, lunch at famous Turtle Jack's in Port Carling, ON.

A route map is an interesting idea. We will work on that.

Yes it would be a good thing for us out of towners. At the first run I thought it would nice to have an ideal where we where at/going. Even a simple drawing would work. Thanks Jeff

I can offer to host the post rally event again. 2-stroke blender should be ready for few by then.

Muskoka Checkmate Rally confirmed for August 10

We are all confirmed for the 5th annual Muskoka Checkmate Rally on Saturday August 10th.

Meet at Gravenhurst Wharf, Gravenhurst, Ontario, by the docks beside the large steamships at 9:00-9:30am. Drivers meeting at 9:45 and we depart at 10:00am. Lunch in the private dining room at Turtle Jacks, Port Carling at 11:45am and then off through the Port Carling locks for the afternoon loop around Lake Joseph and Rosseau.

We will have post rally refreshments at ianz's place near Kettles on Lake Muskoka around 4pm. Come full of gas and ready to roll.

Rally route map

I have created an image of the planned route for the Rally, but cant paste it here (looks like a web URL only). If you want a copy send me a note with an email address and I can forward the route map.

Route Map

I was forwarded the proposed route map for the rally so here it is.

It looks similar to the last few years and also similar to the original Segwun 100 mile cruise. I have never tracked the actual distance but I bet it is 100 miles or a least it feels like it.

Wow the route looks great! Is it difficult to navigate back to Gravenhurst from the "finish"? I've never driven around that area, only passengered. My buddy eluded to this being a "guys only" event, he's pulling my leg, right?

I would say it is a family event. some have brought their wives/girl friends and kids. for the most part it is guys but is just because not everyone wants to boat all day on a Saturday.

The trip from the finish back to gravenhurst is about 15-20min at a slow cruise speed. depending on time others that know the lake have to head that way either right after the rally or a couple hours later.

Perfect, sounds great, see you there!
