NEW BECKMATE 350zt PICS

Ive always bought and liked checkmate for the looks and craftsmanship. so now we have baja looks or a baja clone! Dont like it at all. now we will see where the craftsmanship is. But in imho dont like it dont want it and go ahead and call the checkmate plant baja plant#2 :shakehead:

I read much and say little, I think if you are going to build
boats that look like baja just call it baja or baja jr, why
make a baja and call it a checkmate? The only thing unique
about boats are the molds/decks because they all have
the same motors and most of the accessories are same or
similar, so these boats checkmate are making now are no
more than a baja, or is it a baja mold and a checkmate deck?
Thus we have a Beckmate, right?! I am not in the market for
a new boat (I can't even afford to keep my old one running)
and if I were I would not buy a new checkmate that looks
like a baja, nor would I buy a baja that looks like a checkmate.
That new big checkmate looks dead on that baja in the pics!:yell:

So you are saying that they should change the name to BAJA because they added 4 Baja molds on top of the 15 checkmate molds. I think alot of people are missing the point of these new boats I think they are intended to try and capture some of the market that was lost when BAJA sold out to fountain Checkmate isnt doing away with any of there boats just trying to bring in some new customers that may not have thought about a checkmate before. Lets face it people this is a business to make money not loose it.

Ok it is a buisness but you are loosing old checkmate diehard customers, if you want a checkmate by one,if you want a baja by one, dont make it from both. Only people that dont know the history of checkmate will by it because its just a boat

Baja owners should love'm. Just think, if this new line of boat works like it did for Baja, we'll be seeing checkmates everywhere! That'll be great for the company's bottom line! For while anyway. Look where Baja is now???

And how cool will it be when your at your fav. sand bar or hang out and there are 10 other boats just like yours:irked::eyecrazy:

But anyway, in this economy, it'll be a while before that happens.
Planning to stay with my '05 for a while.

Yep just like having a bayliner.

Hey Bravo 1 if you check your post on august boat of the month cooperider posted ...looks like someone stuck aliberator sticker on a skater. this would be post #23. your reply was funny chit but true.....whats the difference here????

the only difference is checkmate peeps are complaining about, liberator seems to be doing quite well with there boats even though they used some one elses design. And my whole point is how many of these diehard Mate fans plan on purchasing a new Mate (any of the boats from checkmate) in the next oh say 2 years, times are tuff for any business right now and. Now my question is this would people be so hurt if they bought a mold from a manufacter such as apache or sunsation or outer limits and used it or is it just the fact that it was a baja mold.

Hac,
sure baja fell of its high horse but how do we know that checkmate isnt just as close to the same fate maybe thats what made the push to try something new to try and boost sales for a relatively cheap price.

I think that was my point:poke:

I'm pretty sure its the whole Baja thing:rof:

I to like the mates for there styling and craftsmanship thats why i bought my 2100 pulsare and i am going to be purchasing another Brand New Mate soon, but out of 18 boats that are manufactered by checkmate there are only 3 that came from baja ( 2 of them i dont like but the 35 footer is a nice looking boat for my taste ) they have only dropped one mate hull for the 244 but still have the 240 so to say that you love mates so much but could care less if they go out of business because they build 3 boats that you dont care for is in my opinion IGNORANT they still make 15 great boats that will compete with or beat down other brands any day of the week. So one question i have for you red when do you plan on making your Brand new mate purchase, and if you dont plan on buying new why do these new boats bother you so bad, because where i come from money talks and bull s!!! walks

Their are 4 new Checkmates from the old Baja molds not 3. Only a fool right now would by a brand new Checkmate when their are plenty of 07 and 08 left overs still out their. If I did buy a new one it would be a runabout like yours. Reggie tossed them molds for a reason and its called "" PLAYED OUT ""

Have you seen how they are pricing the beckmates, Did you forget Dougs long lust for Baja, How about all the comments from Dock Holiday telling everybody that its all the former Baja employees working at Checkmate thats why the new beckmates are so good.

FOR INSTANCE

Beckmate 350zt 35 foot 141,342.00
Convincor obx 28 foot 138,226

What new Boat buyer that does not know the difference between a Baja and Checkmate is going to buy a 28 foot Convincor when he can have the 35 foot for 3 grand more.

All the Beckmates are priced cheaper than the Checkmates in their size and engine class. So tell me Einstein if the boats are simular in size and they are built the same way why are the Beckmates priced so much cheaper.

I think its Dougs way of pushing Checkmate out the door:sssh:

Red, I hadn't paid too much attention to the price differences, but the zt24thing seems to be pretty low priced too!

And I hope ur wrong about Checkmate out the door!! I was looking to buy a 30ftr in a year or so. Maybe I'll get one of Kunkels leftovers;)

Their are a stack of Convincor left overs. I have been watching the pricing and its sad but the Beckmates are cheaper.

I am not sure why they are priced that way but if i had to guess is that the the 28 obx cost a good penny to develop and the 35 was already developed as for the 244 and 240 you got me on that one. As for the why buy smaller for 3 grand less well some people just dont want or have the need for the bigger boat let alone the ability to tow it safely also they are two completely different boats and there would be 2 completely different buyers looking for each respected boat as for all the left overs just because they are 07 and 08 boats does not mean they are not brand new just havent sold yet and i would bet that the dealer will not ordering to many 09 or 10 boats until they move the ones they have on the floor unless it is a different model with different options or if somebody special orders it from them. Certainly doug does want to add his flair to HIS company everybody wants to put there personal touch on what they own but i personaly dont think that He would do away with the checkmate Heritage. COURSE I COULD BE WRONG ONLY TIME WILL TELL

Oh and mistake i missed the 275 when i counted SORRY

Dont agree at all here Doug is no master mind on the OBX and if I am not mistaken he used a 28 Convincor hull which now is the 300. And if I recall SCT's boat is a 06 Convincor 300 which is 28 foot with 2 300 O/B 's on it. So the twin O/B Convincor was here before Doug. The only thing different I see is the seats and it does not take a master mind to change around the seat arrangements.

So to blame the price difference on development is incorrect. Anybody that owns a big boat would take a 35 over a 28 anyday for 3 grand more. Ask any body on this board that owns a deep V boat Convincor or ZT
