New Member from Fort Worth Texas

I am a new member, just bought my first boat, A 1979 Checkmate, I am pretty sure it is an Eluder, open bow with an Evinrude 175 HP V-6 on it. Title reads 18 foot. I bought this boat yesterday after much research and thought. From what I have seen online and looking at the boat it is all original, including the titles dated 1979. Boat is in pretty good shape has a couple of spots in the clear coat that look burned out. Interior has a couple of very small wear areas but no cracking or seams ripped apart. Engine fires right up and sounds great. The floor has one spot at the walk through windshield that is soft that I will work on this winter. All lights work and all gauges work and appear original. I have not had a chance to get it out on the water yet but I am hoping for next weekend, just a short trip so I can make sure it runs good and there are no issues. Does need a new plug and the bilge pump is not coming on so I need to look at that stuff first. I do not know how to post pictures but I will post as soon as I figure it out.

Welcom to our maddness!!! You can post pictures to a site like photobucket then copy the url to your thread. A lot of information and help on this site. Enjoy!

Just took some more pictures I will upload after work. Prop is 14-1/4 x21. Not sure what it means for performance, but it is in great shape. Being new to boat ownership I still have tons of research and learning to do. I am excited about it though.

Clock works, I was excited about that. Messed with the switch and fuse and the bilge pump is working too. Will get it tagged tomorrow :bounce:
Any idea if that is the original clock and fuel gauge?

Thank you Don. I am looking forward to many hours of alone time with the new boat. As much as i love that it is all original I think it needs some updating, controls gauges and interior, but i am in no hurry. Did notice when I looked at it the other day the cooler box in the bow was starting to rot so I am trying to decide if I keep the cooler or make it a flat floor. If I can find the cooler that fits in it I will probably rebuild it with an added coat of glass to keep it from rotting again. Glad i found this forum there is tons of useful information that will help.
