Operation:POWER TRANSPLANT

They were built up near Lady Lake where my mother in law and brother in law live. The next time I'm down there, I'm supposed to look up the guys that owned Drifter. I was going to try to buy the Drifter name

My father in law used to own a Drifter, he wrecked it and then got a Ranger and swapped the power over.

Hey 83 if you start jacking that motor keep an eye on that chip in your skeg. I would hate to see it fail on you .

Dont remind me of the skeg. On the long drive home when I frist got it the raod was under constuction and I ran to go around and the trailer fell off the raod and the skeg hit the road hard. I was not a happy camper. I am trying to get another lower maybe with higher gears. I dont know.
For now I may just put a skeg guard over it.

Man that sucks dude. If nothing else you can usually get an empty case fairly cheap until you find the one you want.

It has a 21P QuickSilver
and I picked up a 25P something from Boston Predictor

I have not taken the boat out yet with the Merc.

Your skeg guard should be fine on the merc. Alot of guys dont like them on hi-perf boats but youll be all set. A freind of mine broke the skeg all the way off his 275 Evinrude and It drove perfectally fine even at 60+mph and with a hydraulic JP. I drove the boat myself several times and never noticed any issues anytime ever. Im not saying its not unsafe, but from my experiance A skeg dont do crap except make it turn a little better. I like the look of the skeg guard too, Im probably going to grab one for my V8:thumb:

I finally got to take the Mate out yesterday. What an awesome ride. For those of you who own Predictors or Enticers need to upgrade to a V6. The boat rides so much better and will just hull azzzz if one want it to. I forgot the GPS but with a 21P prop at 6600 rpms my speedo was pegged an inch past 65mph.
More #'s this weekend

i'll be watching this one closely, i'm thinking you should be pulling close to 70 if it's set up right.

I finally got some numbers

As of an hour ago I am running 62.4 on gps at 6450 rpms with a 21P QuickSilver 3-blade (not high Performance at all). I think I may have the engine to high for this prop. But it dose take off like a rocket.:surf:

OK math guys how much slip and what Pitch prop should I try next.

what's the max rpm - i'm thinking it's around 6k, so you should be on a 23 anyway - wonder how a trophy plus would work?

I think the spec is 5500-5800rpm's due to the poor Oil injection pump. Since I have it removed I want to run around 5900-6000.
If I can get almost 63 with a round ear 21P I think 70mph is possible.

How many holes do I plug on the lower and how.
