Playmate is ready to tear it up, ndaniels!

Ok.....Here goes a little brainstorming some solutions to keep that 150 on there..

-Trim Tabs....YES!
-Move fuel tank and battery up under the bow.....or have a large person lay under there...your choice.
-Torque tab on the skeg to reduce that port dive....plus the tabs can be set to offset this.
-Going to a larger pitch prop should lessen that hard torque, give the better top end, but reduce your wicked acceleration (prolly not much with a HP/Weight ratio like that!)

If you want Wildman status.....you must master this challenge young grasshopper. Keep the power....be smarter than the water.....and train the driver!
Maybe I will go to Lowes and get a couple 2 x 8's , a door hinge set, and a couple turn buckles and build me some dem dar trim tabs:rof:

Already got the tank up there but not the battery yet. Had it almost 100% full as well (12gal). However a blonde with "DD's and plenty of chapstick" sounds like a better thing to be up there;). Damn, off topic, sides that would only be advisable at idle speed or when turned off!!!! It has a torque tab already but the skeg looks short. Maybe a skeg guard (with the torque tab) might help get the original size, shape, and handling???

I was thinking that a 26p would be a good start. I would just hate to buy the prop and end up going with the smaller motor in the end and wasting the cash spent on the prop. Like I said, the acceleration is insane so I can stand to lose some of that to lessen the torque sway:bigthumb:

BTW, I just caught a fly with 2 pencils (no chop sticks here!!!!):bounce: So what if it was dead, I still caught it:lol:

Nice job on the fly! Yea, a short skeg will make things kinda hairy to control. And the blonde would be a much better form of ballast. Yea I wouldn't advise any of that under speed. You don't need to twitch, curl your toes, and loose control of the thing......the boat might get hurt not to mention what the teeth will do to ya...bwhahaha. I really do think that between tabs and a longer skeg, that will make that thing handle a ton better. And I think I would mount the tabs closer to the middle than the outside of the boat because they would be more effective there seeing as only about a foot at best of that boat would be in the water at high speeds.

I think the use of a JATO bottle would cure that tork problem.
It will be hell trying to hold on for the 90 seconds that the bottle
will last  . And you thought you have a wicked accelleration now!!!!!!

Just get a new jock strap before you try it.

Got her out today. Had some fun with it. I stopped at lowes and picked up a 80# bag of concrete mix and slid it up in front of the gas tank. I am now spinning a 3 blade SS 26p turbo prop. I did not worry about taking the GPS and the speedo is not hooked up. The tach does work so I will go off this.

First test was me and Steve, (both 175#). Acceleration is still insane, holeshot on up. My buddy steve swears we took off faster than his GSXR600!! 20mph on up is crazy still. It sent steve searching for a oh crap handle every time:D. Pulled back around 3600rpm due to him white knuckling it:lol:
With me and Steve's girlfriend Alex in the boat (175# and 115#), we tested it even harder. Got some 4500 and even a 5000rpm run in and she said it was the fastest thing she had ever been in. I tested it even more and let her try driving it. Never been on a boat and she jumped behind the wheel. I was giving her direction but she did very well bringing it up on plane and to 3500rpm-ish. Her responce was "it was very, very easy to drive but the waves did make her nervous". She would like to try driving it again when it was smooth:bigthumb:.
With me and Megan in it (175# and 130#), we went out and did a couple 5k runs, even bringing it up to 5200 before backing out due to water conditions. Best run of the day, the boat is insane feeling now. Still will lean under hard acceleration but nothing like before. It leans more like its off balanced, not like its tipping over. Megan said "it was a total blast:D" as it was her first time in the playmate. Also she did say "its 10x better than that baja scat cat!"

Tho it was too rough to do wide open speed runs, I did get on it a few times and she felt good. I was running negative trim angle but I do think under smoother conditions, I can trim her up a bit. I also found that when I did trim her up, the lean went away and it felt like a bigger boat. The boat is very easy to drive now but still not for a beginner driver unless someone else is in there. I am thinking she should rev to about 5600-6000 with some trim and all of the throttle. I am just not sure if the boat can handle that speed SAFELY! Also a issue of sitting to low in the rear and water coming in from between the 2 half is now cured with the weight up front, even with 2 people in the boat. I do want to take her out by myself and get some GPS speeds this week if my back is up to it. Right now I can hardly walk and I am going to get my best friend (the heating pad) to warm me up so I can move:cheers:

I had mine up to 82, but was a bitchh to drive. 60-70 mph was pretty easy. I just had single cable steering though. I have a 60hp on it now. I may change the steering and try a 300xs for fun and looks.

Brian, that sounds like a fuuuun boat now! I did have a chance to ride in Buss' Predictor and it was a total riot. I can only imagine what that playmate is like. Glad to hear you got it going well and the little woman was thrilled.

Wildman.....you are STILL THE MAN! I like the ideas you have for your playmate. That would be absolutely sick with a 300XS and hyd. steering.

Randy I can't believe how high yours sat in the water with that 225 on it. The only difference is I still have the battery in the rear. With me in it, the rub rail bobs in and out of the water and any wave will come over the rear of the boat while sitting still. The 80# bag did help a lot but still ass low, IMO. Your motor was 100# heavier than mine also!

Chris, you aint ready for this beast :poke::lol::poke: JK!!!

I have the battery and 12 gallons up front, and another 12 gallons in back. The boat has a ton of reinforcements in the bottom and rear of the boat.

I got the 12 gallon tank up front and the 80# sack in front of that all the way at the "V". Battery only in the rear...... Weird how they sit differently!

I am a little curious. It looks like you have a low water pickup, how high are you running the motor? On mine the higher I have the motor the easier it is to drive.

Are you bringing it to Cumberland? There should be plenty of 'good' water there for testing. :)

Yep its got a bobs nose cone with LWP. I think its around 3" below the pad. I am not sure about bringing it to cumberland or not yet. Its either going to be the wavejammers or the playmate.
