have a 96 253 convincer trying to get rid of the porpising at slow to mid range speeds smooths out at higher speed. running a mirage 21p. will a 22p bravo 1 4 blade help , or trim tabs? 7.4 liter, carburator,

Put your trim tabs all the way down and tuck your outdrive, then find a sweet spot in your RPMs where it won't bounce. Mine is 3000 and 4100 RPMs.

I like to have fun with blasting out of a porpoise. This pic is of me doing just that... Get her bouncing and then nail the throttle at the right time, it shoots the boat clean out of the water...100_1240-1.jpg

I could not imagine my 270 Convincor without trim tabs. I have 16's on it now but it really needs 24's. If you are interested in purchasing my entire Lenco electric system, let me know...the actuators have been replaced last year with the latest design.

Price$$$ But then again this makes me think if you put your tabs down and still need to run higher speeds what good are they. I have the only Convincor that never had tabs I think. I can speed up in that same range and pull threw it. Or at lower rpms trim down.

Not knocking your tabs but the way you descibe is the way my boat acts with no tabs.

So by this are the tabs useless all together unless maybe 24,s:sssh:

Be glad you have this problem a Checkmate hull is a fast hull and wants to run on top of the water " ON PLAIN " When porpising its tring to get on plain at slow speeds but keeps falling off. This sucks for cruising but is good for speed.

This is common with all Checkmates seat time is the only real cure

" SPEED UP , SLOW DOWN , TRIM UP , TRIM DOWN "
JUST DRINK YOUR BEER FASTER AND IT WONT FOAM

I think it's the 07 hull, red. It's different than yours and mine! I have driven that boat but not enough to experience the porpoising I see
his 270 do. I don't need the trim tabs I have and rarely use them but
I have a narrow hull.
 
your right big red the boat runs smooth at at higher speeds ,but when out with friends iam leaving them behind. going to try a 22p bravo 1 ,4 blade this weekend to see how it handles

I truly think that 24's will help and I have read several threads on other sites that have confirmed my thinking. The problem is my ladder will interfere with 24's.

My boat will run smooth at 4100 rpms with tabs up but it would bounce to hell and back below that without tabs down. Dogschool can tell ya. In fact he took that excellent photo of 7/8's of my boat!

Price$$$? probably real cheap, let me think on that...
 
I will tell you this on my boat anything under 3500 rpms you need to run full trim down if you dont want beer bounce with foam. Unless the lake is baby butt slick at 2am in the morning.

The water has to be slick for me to hit the trim without beer bounce under 3500.

Well said...Someday I hope I can take you for a ride and show you how I shoot my boat out of the water. It's better than a carnival ride.

Are you beer bouncing with foam with trim all the way down:confused: around 3500 I take your word on air time. I will only let myself make me crap my draws in flight I dont need anybody else making me crap my draws:bigthumb:
 
yep, mine too. i found that the bravo is bow lifting also, i have been running the hydromotive Q4 which is supposed to be more stern lifting. it took some of the bounce away but i still need tabs to smooth the low speed ride. i absolutely cannot stand the porpoise problem.
with speed its fine, without it sucks.
 
check out the bottom center video, good shot of nice bow lift, this was a 3 blade mirage prop, ran great 73.6 gps. took 500 hp to do it though. took 700+ hp to find 83 mph but it was a blast. no porpoising at those speeds, ran smooth!!

My 253 would porpise at slow speeds with my 24 bravo I prop. it wasn't anything major and it would completely go away with the drive tucked all of the way in. I just tend not to go that slow and cruise between 45 and 65 mph. A Bravo I is a medium bow lift prop and is mostly a stern lift prop.
