re riggin the 2800sx....

I just realized that the pics you sent over to me were with the drop out bolsters. you will like that so much better. looks good, how did you relocate the controls.

hey man

i hope they will be better...i really liked the one piece bolster...although almost everyone who inquired about the boat complained about it. lol theres def more room to move around in the cockpit and access to the cuddy is easy.

i mounted the controls on the dash to the right of the steering wheel. they are mounted vertically kinda like a fountain....i made a little riser that looks like a wedge so the angle isnt too steep.....it works and looks great.

trim harnesses came in today....came home for a min and wired em up. all systems go. got a few cosmetic things to straighten out before i call it "done" but i will be water testing this week.........

We'll be testing and tuning at the same time!! My switch boxes are installed and my lowers swapped to turn the props in..Gonna try and splash late this afternoon for a sea trial...if not, I'll have to wait til friday..

my hull itself weighs in at 5300. a 87 2800sx is 3200. didn't realize it was as big of a barge as it is. well if I averaged 61 with a best of 63 you should definitely do a lot better. gonna have to figure out how to lighten this thing up some. not sure if I have the same hull as you or not. it is an original outboard boat but the top deck is different than yours. as of right now only I only know of 2 outboard maxxums around.

damn 2100 pounds!

i never woulda guessed.....i know mine is VERY light for a 28 foot boat.

im hoping to break 70 and thats really my only expectation. if it will do that i will be pleased as ****.

lol sweet!

leme know how it works! im curious to see your reaction. ive only ran mine spinning in so i have nothing to go by.

Is that 5000+lb figure from you actually weighing the boat or is it from a web site or spec sheet? It sounds to me like that figure might be for an I/O with a motor or motors in it.

its from nada, not sure how accurate it is. says a 281 with 0 outboards is 5300. 2 I/o's is 5800 and single I/o is 5750. not sure how they came up with those numbers.

Their numbers sound hokey to me. 2 car motors and drives only add 500 lbs? Take one motor and drive away and only lose 50lbs? Maybe check with Checkmate?

yeah that doesnt sound quite right....it could be closer if the single was a big block and the twin was small block.....

still doesnt really add up tho.

I found out the spec sheets are not real accurate last summer. My 235 Persuader is listed at 3100 with a BBC and no gear but I had the trailer weighed with and without my boat and it only weighed 2880 with 1/4 + tank of fuel. I got curious about its weight one day when I was able to snatch the tongue of the trailer and drop it on my hitch with the boat loaded. That would be pretty wild to have a 2000lbs. difference between these 28' boats. You fellas are all doing a great job with the 28s and would'nt it be sweet to get them all together rippin across the water. Keep up the good work and the pics coming. :thumb:

i can pick up my 2800 and put it on the hitch.

ive heard the number 4200 pounds for the 2800sx fully rigged thrown around somewhere. cant remember ....but its all guessing till you get it weighed......

jupiter and i are making plans to have a 2800sx outing this summer....

I know my boat came with single big block or twin small blocks. I also know I have a piece of stainless that is about 12 in high and runs almost the whole width of the transom which has to add some weight. When I get it back together I will have to weigh it. Also now it has ac and some other stuff that adds on to the weight.

ran the boat on the hose again today with the temp gauges and water pressure gauges hooked up. everything is working.

12-15 psi at idle.....when revved the popet would open and the pressure would drop....

one engine seemed to run a lil hotter than the other...port 120-125 deg and starboard 140 deg.....that was measured on the head with a point and shoot.)

starboard - the thermostats would open about 150 and it would cool down to around 130 and then climb again......this repeated the entire time i ran it on the hose at idle...bout 20 min. if i revved it the popet would open and the temp came down.

port - hovered around 120 - 125 the whole time....

this was on the hoe with a makeshift bonnet that didnt seal up too well so its not really a dependable representation of whats goin on...
