Vacation pictures
I have returned from a 9 day vacation in the 1000 Islands, NY.
Got a few shots of the boat and thought I would post them.
Canada in the background.
I had to take it easy for the first 5 to 6 hours of operation after I had the lower unit rebuilt.
These were the only pictures taken of the boat in operation. My wife was nice enough to take these for me. I have plenty taken while tied to the dock.
There was a poker run from Kingston to Brockville, Ontario on Saturday.
What a show. I was out for a ride and I didn't know about it so I didn't have my camera with me to take pictures when they came by.
I guess I should say
"when they flew by me". Some had to be running in excess of 100.
One Checkmate was in the run that passed me as I sat and watched.
Only saw a total of 7 Checkmates during the whole week. All were I/O's
and larger than 24 feet.
After the poker run many of them tied together in the cove around the corner from the waterfront house I rented on Wellesley Island. Had to be atleast 200 boats in the cove.
I think this is the boat in the poker run I saw. If you are a forum member,
please speak up and give us some info on the run. This picture was taken from my dock at the north end of Wellesley Island just at the Narrows entering Lake of the Isles on Saturday afternoon.
All in all a great weeks vacation. I am happy with the boat and how it ran.
Now I have to dial it in. Only got 55 mph (GPS) at 5500 rpm with 3/4 tank of gas. 14-1/2 x 22P Raker at 6-1/2" below the "V". I know I need more prop, atleast a 24P. As I give a little trim I can easily wind the motor past
6000 rpm.
If I add a jack plate and lift the motor to 3-1/2" and then trim up the motor I think I will easily overrev the motor with the 24P Raker.
I will do a little at a time and see what each change will do.
Again, I want to say
"Thank you" to all the , members that have offered advise during my resto to get me to where I am today.
