Took out the Enchanter yesterday

For those who don't know, I bought Bluebeast's Enchanter a couple of weeks ago, saving it from certain destruction.

I spent the time since then installing new gauges, new steering, a windshield, various other knick-knacks, a Mariner 175 and a jackplate and generally cleaning it up.

It still needs a floor and an interior, but those will wait until fall.

So I finally got to take it out on the river yesterday. Top speed on the GPS was 62 (fastest I got with the same motor on the Eluder was 61, and on the Predictor was 59, strange it goes faster with more weight!) As usual the Checkmate drew favorable comments on the river with most to the effect of that boat looks fast.

I like the way the boat rode and handled compared to the Predictor, it as similar (but a bit better) to the Eluder.

Next phase of the summer is putting the 115 I bought last year on the Predictor and cleaning things up on that boat. I'll start a restoration thread on the Enchanter soon, and will post up some pics of what I've done so far as soon as I go outside and take them!

Thanks Bluebeast!

Really pleased that it wound up with an enthusiast who'll keep it on the water.
Will be watching the restoration; post a pic of it running if you get a chance.
Thanks!

Imagine what it'll run with dry wood and probably core replaced.

Pretty sure it's just the floor that is soaked.

My reasoning: The transom is rock solid. I mean, no flex in that sucker at all, and I had it running 45 in a 1 foot chop on the Pamlico Sound. Plus no water intrusion the whole day I had it out. I pulled the drain plug once back on the trailer and only a dribble came out. All the floor damage is confined to the area around the ski locker, so I'm thinking the water came in through the exposed edge and soaked through the floor, as well as taking out the stringers. All the rigging seemed pretty original when I pulled it out, so I'm pretty sure PO's didn't punch a bunch of holes through the fiberglass that would let water in.

That'll be nice if the core is still dry. The ski locker floor is the core in that boat. Feel around on it to see if it's soft.
