I wouldn't right off the 4 blade so quickly. I have 2 Mates. 21' Starliner and 16' Diplomat and I run Powertech 4 blades on both. The only thing faster has been the Tempest (which otherwise I hated with a passion), the 4 blades do almost everything else better.
Probably still need the JP to get the best out of them though.
Bill - i've got a practically new 21p rxb4 in the box if you're interested-excellent prop. Good hit out of the hole, bow lift and nearly same top end (1-1.5 mph less according to the gps but only if you had a chance to really wind it up for a long stretch in perfect conditions) as the 3 blade 23 ss before it since it's got some cupping. No ventilation though and strong grip in the turns.
On my unmodified 1991 merc 115 with a recommended wot of 4750-5250 it was turning around 5100-5200 at highest trim before it would actually go a little higher rpm and start slipping inefficiently. The 21p was the highest that powertec makes for this prop. motor was mounted directly-no plate and it was doing 52.6 on the gps whereas the 23p ss would go to 54 on the gps under long, perfect stretches.
I paid list price to powertech ( I forget exactly how much-if you call them they'll tell you-somewhere around 400) because I needed in it time for july 4 weekend. You can actually get it through a retailer (Mark can give us the name-i forget) for around 50 or 70 less if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks. Either way you probably want it ported(free of charge) so it revs up a little faster.
If you're interested make me an offer.
If, on the other hand, you or someone else has a 23-25p TRO4 that's what I'd probably be putting it toward anyhow.
