My latest project. 13ft Paradise/Playmate copy

I figuer I'll have all of that in it, but it's gonna be a cool little ride! Ya can't cut corners when ya wanna be COOL!!

So true...Oh so true!

Why did you have to take on this project a month after I bought a Playmate! You are killing me!

Keep up the good work.

You're doing so much custom work to this boat the windscreen will be a step in the same direction. I like the look of the windscreen vs. the winshield. I think the screen looks more sporty. On my previous boat I had my windshield replaced with a custom windscreen and I think it took about 10-15 years off the look of the boat. Boat was a 1989 Baja 265 Force.

First pic of a different boat with the shield. Next pics of my boat with the screen.

I always new that you were a BAJA man deep down in side Hotbeek!:rof:

On a serious note I like what you did with that boat.

I glassed the outside and inside of the windshield. Next, I'll grind it down and do the bodywork to smooth it out.

I redid all the seams on the radar arch and epoxy primered it

You've put so much work into this beauty, doesn't seem like it will be long before we see the end product! :bigthumb:

crap.. wildman I should have looked at this post earlier I know a place around that will make ANYTHING out of plastic. Give them the dimension or send them the patterns they will make it and their prices are not bad. And they do lots of colors too.

I got to give you credit WM this is the fastest resto thread I have seen here. 30 days and your painting today. Gitty up Cowboy that's some Kick A work.

When I start something, I don't stop till it's done. I used to do frame-off restorations on musclecars that needed 50% new bodys, full interiors, and drivetrains, by myself, in 5-6 months. My last one got 26 1st places out of 27 shows. The one time it got 2nd was when I brought two cars, and the other one got 1st. I'm sure glad to be out of cars though. Boats are much more fun!

Wow... I know how tough the competition can be at muscle car shows, it takes a hell of a lot more creativity than good paint and wax to get 1st place. You really got a fire under your feet for this project!!! :bigthumb:

I finished the radar arch. Here, it's ready to paint.

Here, I put a white basecoat. This will make the yellow look brighter. I painted it yellow, but my camera battery went dead.

I put a white base down on the boat too. Here, I shooting the yellow

The boat and arch are all yellow now with a coat of intercoat clear. This way, I can lightly sand it down on Monday and start laying out the graphics.

I haven't been painting for about 5 years, but judging by the hose line, are you using HVLP? During restorations do you just use automotive paints and clears with flex addative or is there specific marine paint that you use? What do you do for the belly of the boat?

Thanks for letting us follow along during the resto!
