What is your boat getting for next season?

I was wondering what you all had planned for next season.

I want to install my new headliner, gauges, and re-wire everything before I hit the water. My setback bracket install is up in the air right now. I may just run it as is.

I need to spend another 10 hours on the polishing. that should bring me up to 30 hrs on the shine alone. this thing was pretty milky.

New floor, carpet, bilge pump and stereo. I'm also redoing the wiring in the transom area. Then I plan on wetsanding/ buffing the top cap. That should keep me busy for a while.:D I'm still stimulating the economy.:thumb:
 
I want to try different props and work on my set- up. I have a pair of 28' choppers that I'm hoping will gain me 2 maybe 3 mph over my Bravo 1s.

I've also been talking w/ Simon Motorsports about some after market add ons to my X engines. He is claiming 3-4 mph w/ an exhaust poppit valve, a bigger throttle body and increase the fuel pressure over a stock 300X. If so that is a nice gain for only 1K.

I would be thrilled to hit 94-95 on the gps. We'll see......
 
Well...

  1. I need to push the motor up some more, so a different set-back bracket is a must.
  2. Build an enclosure for 1 of the 2 twelve inch subs that I have waiting in the garage (more weight but who cares tunes are more important....to me anyway)
  3. I am thinking about getting the fly-wheel lightened on the 300XS for some more low end response. (chances of this happening are slim)
  4. I WILL buy a good ol' chopper prop before next season in the 27P to 28P range for playing with the Jet Boats on the river.
Unfortunately, winter is my time for home improvements, so I won't get to these upgrades till March/April.

I was going to go crazy,I bought a second motor,was going to build up my gt200 to a 250 or 300,but just bought a truck and a million other things going on,,so this year it maybe a basic rebuild,,but next year look out,,we are going to blow out the 2nd engine into something Nasty,,OVERKILL...
 
Hoping to find a nice used Laser EFI 2.5 motor, 200 horse. If not, then a good 3.0 liter efi 225............

man 94-95 would be a blast. Im sure you wil get it with those upgrades.

I hear ya, I figured i could dump way too much cash on my setup and still not go as fast as my predictor.

I did forget to mention I plan on setting up a stupid loud stereo. I have a bunch of stuff laying around from my Bass head days. :drool:

I failed to mention tunes, as well. I don't care to cut any holes in the dash or add more weight, but the little lady sure likes to jam. So, I do have a 5 channel Directed amp and a pair of 6x9's. I'll prolly p/u a pair of 6.5's for the rear, but don't think I'm going to go with a sub. Not right away, anyhow. Actually, I'm going to go "headless" and link my iPod right to the amp with a Jensen Marine "jPort". I looked hard and found one last year and have yet to install it, but I think I at least have some reasinable tunes by spring. These are discontinued now. I'm going to install it inside the glove box and keep my iPod in there. Out of sight and harms way.

I plan on adding a lot of little things to update my boat and will post pics as I do so. But most of all I want to make the engine run properly so it can leave the trailer. :pissed:
 
Well I have a long to do list for it.

Finish floor
Pressure Gauge
New battery Mount
Redo Electrical
Maybe start changing some props
Trailer needs some minor work
Use the boat alot
 
hey jallen, the only prob with those is the Ipod has a 1 volt or less output for the audio. most low end head units have 2 volts and a high end unit will have 4 volts or more.

even if you turn the volume on the ipod up and the gain on the amp all the way up you will not achieve the amps full potential output. The audio cable you have pictured above will work fine. you may want it to be louder though. :bigthumb:

That's right I forgot about that. You really should have a head unit as a preamp.
 
Nice thread idea Matt - it's cool to hear what everyone is up to - especially after being "away" from the forum for a while.

Anyhow - I have 4 things (3 of which will actually happen)

1 - good light buff and wax
2 - vertglass the swim platform + strip and teak oil the swimplatforms
3 - have my buddy look over the lower unit - it seems to be loud at very slow speed. I think it's fine, but worth the peace of mind.
4 - find a cheap 6" hyd slider. I missed that nice one over on S+F trying to weasel the guy out of an extra $50 - sometimes I'm the posterchild for penny-wise and dollar stupid!

9. Goal - 95 MPH on GPS!!!!!
