    New Convincor....what a weekend!

Acer2428 - Just noticed your avatar, LOL. I love it!!!!! I have never feared an election like I do this one. I'm debating stocking up on ammo now in case Hillary goes in office so that I'm ready for the revolution lol.

To sell or not to sell

Absolutely - agreed. I'm just trying to judge the amount of problems given an interesting situation... I live in CT, however, I keep the boat in the Adirondacks in NY which is 6 hours away. It makes getting work done a little tougher. I guess I'm trying to gauge the depth of the issues I...

To sell or not to sell

So I finally got to try out the 1986 Sportfire I picked up. I found 3 issues: 1) The 115 Merc seems to be loading up a low speeds and idle. Running under power, it's fine and seems to have plenty of power. Given the fact this motor has 3 carbs, I'm assuming it's probably running rich...

    Checkmate MSRP?

Are there any sites that give ball-park MSRP prices for new checkmates? I have searched but have been unable to find anything.

    Trim won't hold

I just tried out the 1986 sportfire I picked up. The only problem I'm having is that the trim won't hold the motor. I trim the motor up under power and the rpms rise and she takes off, but then the motor starts slowly coming back down and within 30 seconds it's back down to where it started...

Just found this on Craigslist: Checkmate Senator

It's not mine or anyone I know - just saw it and thought someone here might be interested. http://hartford.craigslist.org/boa/418587304.html

    Anyone using a HotFoot?

Ok cool. More stupid questions from me... What is "chinewalking" and is there a link somewhere to the land and see model?

    Anyone using a HotFoot?

Anyone here using a HotFoot gas pedal or similar setup? What's the deal? Are they nice/useful or just novelty/crap?

    New to me Sportfire

Sweet! How about more details and pics? I just got my first checkmate and it's a sportfire. She ain't a creampuff, but she's solid. I want to find someone to paint it.

    Hull max hp rating

I'm not really worried as much about the legal or insurance aspect, but more with structural integrity. I figured the max hp ratings had to do with how much weight or raw force the boat or transom could handle. I'm totally new to all this big hp stuff. I'm more used to smaller aluminum...

    Hull max hp rating

Excuse my ignorance here - but how do you guys run so much motor on your boats. My 86 sportfire says it's rated for max 140hp. Obviously there's a lot here I don't know.

    Mercury "Tower of Power"?

YES!!! Had my local mechanic take a look at the beast. He said the compression test came out fine, and a few other checks came out fine. The sportfire has a lot of gas that is getting old because the previous owner hadn't run her this year since storing last year. If I can manage to get a...

    Mercury "Tower of Power"?

I recently picked up a 1986 Sportfire with a Mercury 115hp inline 6 cyl "Tower of Power" outboard (of similar year I think). There seems to be a lot of hype about this engine. Is it really the powerhouse people make it out to be?

    ALL NEW MEMBERS

Actually - yes I am ashamed of where I live lol... Connecticut sucks. I can't wait to figure out a way to sell my house and move back home to the Adirondacks.
