1975 Vmate restoration

Been wondering what happened with this build. Glad to see you're still making progress. Gonna get her wet this season? Looks like it to me. :)

I have $750 worth of parts in my rebuild and countless hours cleaning parts and gasket surfaces. Not to mention assembly lube, silicone, never-seaze and many hours removing and pressing seals. I don't think I would argue with that price. :thumb: Here is a site with break-in info. Seems to make good sense. I'm thinking I will use this approach.

Wow. He's gone over/cleaned/machined the whole block, cut you a break on parts where ever he could, explained everything, and charged you a flat rate $50/hour labor? All in, including return shipping for under a grand! Not sure what you were expecting to pay, but that's a great deal where I'm from.

Well originally he said since the motor did run it could be right around 650.00 but it ended up needing 2 pistons. The rings on number two were messed up. The top two were stuck and the bottom ring wasnt even there . That explained why there was only 35 psi on that cylinder. But she should be in good shape when I get her back ....

Thats a hell of a deal, the bill to rebuild my 220 was $5600 a few years ago, glad the previous owner did that before I bought it, lol.

Glad to see you getting her back together.

Wayne did say is would cost no more than 999.00 So least I knew it wouldn't have been over a grand

I called Wayne about my merc 900. I'll ship it to him this fall. Sounds like he knows his stuff, and is reasonable with his pricing.

Hey Will. Does Wayne do anything with the carbs? I don't recall if he rebuilds them or not.

He did say he would rebuild them for extra cost but I had already done mine . I sent him just the block . I took the starter, distibutor and everything off before I shipped it down to him . Now when I get it back ill have to put everything thing back on and time it .....
